ESPN Rumor Thread: Blazers interested in _________

Post#1 » by DusterBuster » Wed Jun 22, 2011 10:36 pm

Post any ESPN style rumors here......

According to some posters on the Trade Board, Ric Bucher was on ESPN recently and mentioned that the Blazers are interested in Baron Davis.

It's Ric Bucher, so take it with a grain of salt, but it might be something to keep an eye on.

For why? Don't be making moves for the sake of making moves. This "interest" is about 5 years to late.

Paul Allen is thinking about regrowing his beard and called Baron for advice.

Going for Baron makes a lot of sense...

You know, assuming Paul Allen screams, "I don't give a **** about you, hard cap!!! I spend how I want!!"

Ric Bucher is never right on his rumors. The only way I see the Blazers being interested in Davis is if Varejao is coming with him.

A Cleveland poster suggested a trade on the Trade Board of this.....

Davis
Varejao

for

Miller
Camby
Rudy
#21

I'd make that deal.

In seriousnessness. I'd trade Roy for him straight up. Then you could use Miller to trade for an upgrade at a different position. And if Baron is too awful, hey, amnesty clause.

Miller
Camby
Rudy
#21

FOR

Davis
Mophead
#4

Something like this I'd be interested in... Take Walker at #4

Davis/Walker
Matthews/Whiner
Wallace/Batum
Aldridge/Mophead
Lanky D-League Guy/Broken Oden

:-?

Talk about not making sense...

Here we are on the verge of draft night with no GM for the second straight year. Golliver says the Blazers are a complete joke to the rest of the league right now and it's obvious why. *sigh*

Davis
Varejao

for

Miller
Camby
Rudy
#21

As bitter as that might be, it gives the Blazers at least one piece to be able to do something with down the road. (Varejao) They are getting close to the point of no return with Miller and something would have to have happen with Camby soon as well. I would want a pick thrown in although Cleveland is likely not to include #4. Perhaps a first in next year's draft.

Still, that is a TON of salary for not a lot of talent.

RUMOR ALERT -- MAYBE BS -

I was going to do a new topic but if everyone started a new topic for every rumor it would be chaos. Maybe there should be a Draft Rumor thread that is pinned to the top.

There is a rumor going around that says Atl / Orl / Port are finalizing a deal and this started from a radio report but some are saying it's BS but Ken Berger is saying the Atl / Orl are talking so who really knows. I mean Jaynes broke the Wallace trade even though he was right i think he broke it too early so this could be the same thing.

Here is the rumored deal :

Orlando GETS : Josh Smith and Kirk Hinrich
Atlanta GETS : Ryan Anderson , Duhon , Dre Miller and Camby
Portland GETS : Jameer Nelson and Orton

Remaining total contract:

Baron Davis: 3 years/ $42,650,000
Anderson Varejao 4 yrs/ $43,090,909
Total: $85,740,909

Scenario 1
Marcus Camby: 2 yrs/ $24,616,164
Andre Miller: 2 yrs/ $15,076,992 (if option picked up)
Rudy Fernandez: 3 yrs/ $3,427,123 (with QO)
Total $43,120,279
Cleveland Savings: $42,620,630

OR

Scenario 2
Marcus Camby: 2 yrs/ $24,616,164
Andre Miller: 1 yrs/ $7,269,264 (option not picked up)
Rudy Fernandez: 3 yrs/ $3,427,123 (with QO)
Total $38,664,676
Cleveland Savings: $47,076,233

Seriously? I know PA has that in his couch cushions, but common on. Taking on that much $$$ is going to require some more value. The #4 would have to be on the table, even without the #21.

I doubt Atlanta goes for that. If so, we should take Smith.

I doubt Davis gets moved. Cleveland is not in position to do anything with cap space anyway, so giving up assets to gain it does little for them.

I wouldnt mind Nelson, but there is no way we go into the season with a Center rotation of Oden/Orton/C.Johnson...unless they have decided to move LmA to the 5 for good.

why are you including the just concluded seasons salaries in your calculation? Davis has only 2 years left. Camby 1.
