Outside of Oden and Bowie... What are some moves the Blazers made in the past you thought was brilliant/good and never panned out? Kind of like a confession page.

For example, I thought andre miller for Felton would be a great move. :banghead:

An aging, slow PG with zero range for a quick PG who was an AS reserve (due to injuries) and having a career year while in NY. This was my thought process lol...

Oden is the biggest one for me. I thought Oden was going to be great.

Eh, never thought it would be huge, just interested what other people thought.

Being younger, i also thought Darius Miles would be awesome. But then i was mostly in to highlight plays and missed the whole team aspect.

HAHA i was the same way! I thought he would be pretty much would be a lite version of reggie miller.

I also remember convincing myself Jamaal Magloir was going to be a stud. Past All Star, Big presence etc.

What about Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje!!!!!!!!!! I was young when we had him think it was when we had dale davis so I was a freshman maybe a sophmore in high school at the most. I liked him (probably because of his name) I always got real excited whenever he would get on the floor and the announcers would say his name lol!

I was always like yeah boom shakalaka boumtje boumtje!!!!! Lol too bad he never really did much when he was on the floor haha.

Yeah, I bought the hype John Nash sold about how he had a eye for HS talent since he said he had planned on drafting Kobe Bryant for the Nets before he refused to play for them. I certainly thought he'd be better than he was, especially with how nice his show looked. Passing over DWill and CP3 makes that one hurt.

Speaking of HS players, I also bought the hype for Telfair back in the day. Makes me feel stupid for thinking the Blazers were fine for passing over DWill and CP3 because of him.

I don't feel bad about thinking Oden was going to be huge. He had all the skill for it, he showed it in college and for the fleeting moments that he was healthy in the NBA, he showed he could be dominate at the next level too. It was all there, his body clearly just wasn't cut out for the NBA.

I was really pulling for Kendall Marshal last year, but I thought drafting him and Lillard was the best plan.

I was actually one of the few people who was adamantly against drafting ammo on draft night of 06 if I remember correctly but of course that was before I posted here. For me the biggest one so far has to be Damian Lillard, I was positive he was gonna be a bust on draft day of 2012 and obviously hindsight is 20/20 but man did he prove me wrong.

I know this thread is about how we thought wrong but I thought I'd offer an instance where I was 100 percent right in hindsight: Chris Paul. I wanted Chris more than anybody that year, I thought he was hands down the best player and I was hoping and praying Atlanta and Milwaukee wouldn't take him (I thought either a team would trade up and/or that Bogut and Williams were potential smokescreens). When I found out that we had traded away our ticket for a franchise player my heart sank and at the time I told everyone around me that we'd just made the dumbest move in franchise history. I wasn't about to put my hope in a sub .400 shooter in sebastian telfair at the time so I wanted to go for the BPA considering that we couldn't have done much worse at the time. Then we did...

I remember being worried that KP was actually going to draft Durant rather then Oden. I was quite relieved on draft day and that relief lasted until Oden's 1st micro-fracture surgery

I also thought the biggest health issue for Brandon Roy was the talus bone in his foot

also, when I was a senior in high school, I thought I was man enough to mix tequila and beer

Haha some of these are great. I was also praying we didn't take Durant over Oden, not that Durant would be bad, but the potential for Oden.

There was a part of me this offseason hoping Ammo would make the squad so the 14 year old me would be redeemed...
