The NBENFANT Thread (NBA): 2014-15 Edition

Post#1 » by DaVoiceMaster » Mon Oct 27, 2014 3:55 pm

"This thread is used for news that isn't quite big enough for a new thread, like stuff we all saw coming or is minor. It is also used as a similarly themed thread for random news from around the league for other teams. Like, that Jonas' guy in Toronto is looking alright, do you think the raptor fans will crash the general board this year because of him?"

I think we are ranked too low as a watchable team, I mean how is Toronto and washington more fun to watch?

I try not to be a homer, but I thought we had some of the best regular season games last year no? VS the GSW in November/April, Thunder, in San Antonio, Dallas, 3 out of the 4 times we played Houston, in Clevland, that game where Lillard had 14pts in 49secs and that's just off the top of my head! (oh and in Indy) Also in Denver and Denver at Portland.

I watched alot of Reg. Season games last year and not alot of them rank very high compared to the blazer games I put down up there.

Well we play them this Wednesday, and they will be without Durant and Morrow, but apparently Lamb and Jackson got injured today aswell. Could have only 9 men healthy.

Westbrook
Robertson
Jones III
Ibaka
Adams
Perk
Telfair
Collison
Lance Thomas

I didn't see the game, but I see by the boxscore that the Laker bench scored 22 points. That's 3.5 more points then the 2012-13 Blazer bench averaged. Also, 4 more rebounds. But of course, using that Blazer bench as a 'benchmark' is setting the bar historically low

I see that Papanikolaou had 4 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals in his NBA debut. Didn't shoot well but had a Batum-like stat line. He's 1/4 of the cost in 2nd round picks (not counting cap-space) that Portland paid for Robinson.

I also see that Terrence Jones had a great game. The kind of game the optimists were imagining TRob would produce. Jones is one of those players that was available when Meyers was selected

couldn't help myself

Batum like? :o If that is Batum like Claver should demand a trade! did you take a look at his preseason? Also Good luck trying to start Jones while in the playoffs he does very good against bad teams like the Lakers and Utah but curls up when facing long athletic PFs. I still think Meyers has a higher ceiling than him.

Westbrook out 4-6 weeks.

Blazers are winning the division this year, barring a miracle run from OKC when Durant and Westbrook return, or something catastrophic happens to Dame, or LMA.

No, i don't feel bad..

Don't root for injuries, but it looks like none are season ending so its not too bad to be glad.

I think Barton would really excel on a team he could start on, he can't develop coming off the bench, he like Wes needs mins as a role player in the starting lineup. He doesn't have to play 30mins but he has to start to get better IMO.

If you look at his skills and Lance Stephenson's skills they are similar. They both were picked in the 2nd rnd and both played limited mins their first 2 years.

However Lance got a mins jump his third year due to Granger's injury and he got better ever since. In fact if you look at their 2nd season (same sample size) Barton did better than Lance.

I love Wes, I think he is very undervalued here and everywhere, but he might get 11+mill this summer and if we want Lopez and or miss out on Gasol, then we might be better off starting Barton and giving CJ the backup G spot, since CJ is better suited as a bench player and Barton as a starter, to alleviate the departed Wes and hope Barton grows.

I meant by filling up several categories of a stat sheet. He had a good 2nd game as well

as far as the pre-seaon...it's meaningless. Maybe not as meaningless as summer league or d-league, but it's close

Also Good luck trying to start Jones while in the playoffs he does very good against bad teams like the Lakers and Utah but curls up when facing long athletic PFs.

who said anything about "starting Jones in the playoffs". I said he's the kind of player a lot of people were, and maybe still are, hoping TRob becomes. Jones on the Portland bench this season would be awesome. TRob and Leonard very likely won't be

I still think Meyers has a higher ceiling than him.

they are the same age and Jones is already 4 times the player. Meyers will need to make some ultra-significant improvements to become better. Not sure why Jones won't improve at the same rate that Leonard will. Maybe faster since Jones has earned playing time while meyers hasn't

CJ's older bro Errick Mccollum got 48 11 and 8 in his debut opposite Delonte West and Beasley.

Hayward is quietly earning that big deal he got, I thought Cho had some cajones to give him that much money, would have been a good risk/reward with Hayward and MKG on the wing.
