Walton coming in first makes this pretty easy.

I agree, but why?

I'll be happy to count all of the above votes with justification. :)

He's first in most statistical categories and easily had the most overall successful years of anyone in team history. That enough? :D

Drexler. David Sterned is right. Clyde and Walton are clearly the best two players in our history. It's a question of which do you value more, the brief, bright period where Walton was the best player in the league and took Portland to their only title or a 12 year career of excellence and multiple all star appearances and all time Blazer records. I agree that Walton is 1 and Drexler is 2. 3 Is going to be interesting though.

just because Mo Cheeks is a good person doesn't mean he was a good head coach with Portland.

Mike Dunleavy deserves better than "scrub/retread." PJ Carlesimo, however, does not.

The won loss percentage for Cheeks and Nate as a Blazer coach are not that different(Cheeks is actually better both regular season and playoffs though he had fewer years). In a close call I'll go with off the court issues as a deciding factor

we're hijacking this thread. sorry, Moonbeam.

yeah. Dunleavy is #3. and Lenny Wilkens as a player coach deserves a nod. Mike Schuler won a coach of the year despite not really being the best coach that year. and Nate was better than Carlesimo. that was a quick post to honor both Dr. Jack and Adelman while also trashing Mo Cheeks.

Cheeks inherited Wallace, Stoudemire, Davis, Wells, Pippen, Anderson, Patterson, Kemp, Kerr, and Randolph.
McMillan inherited Randolph, Miles, Brixon, Telfair, Outlaw, Webster, Blake, Patterson, Jack, Pryzbilla, and Khryapa.
all things equal, which roster is more talented?

Since Walton got #1, you gotta go with Clyde Drexler.

Again, simply the longevity and the high level of play during that time period. It's the same reason why I voted him #1. True, Walton "helped" bring a championship award, but championships are team awards, not individual. We as sports fans have lost sight of that by referring to the player as to how many championships that player won, which should be a false statement. If individual championships are what appeal to you, then follow sports like tennis or golf.

Oops - When you mention the Portland Trailblazers, you think Clyde Drexler. The guy was the face of the Blazers for years, was a (insert number) time All Star player, just might have been the best player in basketball back in the day if not for a guy named Michael. He's all over the Blazers record books and nearly brought Portland a championship.

Clyde Drexler On physical talent alone was one of the most athletic players during his era, teams focused on him defensively and he still scored in the 20's, in his prime, he was one of the most exciting players to watch in the NBA.
I never thought I’d lead the NBA in rebounding, but I got a lot of help from my team-mates – they did a lot of missing.

Vote: Clyde Drexler

With Walton off the list this is an easy choice to make. He did it all except win a championship with us.
