I have to thank Miami fans on social media for bringing this up as they're freaking out about it.

"Unlike most of the NBA's regular-season awards, which are voted on by media members, the Executive of the Year is determined from a vote of executives on all 30 teams."

I'm guessing Joe's two votes were from Jon Horst for gifting him Dame and Brad Stevens for gifting him Jrue. At the very least, Joe should get an assist for helping BOS achieve the best records in the league, and Stevens win Executive if the Year. They couldn't have done it without Joe's help!

While I certainly don't think Cronin is a great GM, I have to admit that REGARDLESS of return, I'm glad that a calf-strained, EXPENSIVE, aging Lillard isn't with the team. The direction was to hardcore tank to rebuild and Cronin did that. I just wish it would have come a couple seasons sooner.

Joe got those votes from other executives of small market teams for not bending over and letting MIA slip one in. He deserves credit for not caving to the one team demand from Dame.

We won't know until 2028-9 if last summer's moves will help from a basketball POV but
Cronin as a rookie executive earned some respect around the league for holding his
ground.

Better late than never for Portland at least has a plan forward as opposed to teams like
the Suns

For all the crap heaped on Cronin he did manage to move Lillard for assets and commit to a rebuild. It isn’t perfect, but it’s a start.

I was hoping and expecting this to be one of the first replies. You did not disappoint. Jroy have it all.

His causing Miami fans to freak out is almost enough to say he should have won the award

Its telling that Pat Riley got zero votes. The two people voting for Cronin probably thought he got a great return for Lillard and liked that he stood his ground to the entitled Miami crowd.

Anyone notice that the teams that have flauted their cultures, the Warriors and the Heat have both pulled off richardhead moves

More like 2032. That bucks pick isn't til 2029 and if Joe is still in charge there's a good chance they draft another bust.

Actually, drafting at the top of the draft is quite easy for most of the time, the
choice is obvious. I wouldn’t label Scoot a bust yet for his developmental curve
appears to be similar to Jalen Suggs, who went fifth in the 2021draft. He’ll be
a good but hardly great PG, as he learns on the court

Hilarious that some Miami fans are still crying a year later. What can the Blazers do this summer to pass them off again?

Considering the way Dame and Milwaukee performed this season... Well, it might be a solid bet.
