I'm still hedging on my fourth.

I think I'll just go with Beasley as my fourth keeper since none of the others really have me thinking "keep him!".

Any chance of either different day or a later time?

Absolutely. I just set the draft at that day and time because it wouldn't let me proceed without entering something.

Well it appears everyone has returned. But we also have two that would like to join. What do you guys think? Is there a way to do this effectively with a keeper league?

Maybe we can do it this week? I have finals next week so that won't be ideal for me.

The problem with doing it this early is that there's still an entire offseason to go through that could potentially drastically change the value of a pick.

I'd rather wait and do it closer to Christmas. That's going to be tough schedule-wise for me because I work during the week at nights (and I assume during the week during days would be tough for most of you), but hopefully we can figure something out--like maybe Christmas Eve or something. Otherwise, we can do a draft that isn't live. That wouldn't be the end of the world.

Right now I want to focus on whether or not adding other teams would be doable. I'm hoping some of you guys who have more experience with leagues like this can give some input.

I prefer doing the draft closer to Christmas as well, since I have final exams and auditions that I need to intensely prepare for.

As for this-

I don't know, but perhaps reduce the number of keepers and let the new guys pick a few dudes or whatever before the draft, so they can at least have some top 40 players on their roster. That, or we just start all over. No keepers and have a lottery to determine draft order.

Well I joined last year and chose keepers from my new team.

Didn't you take over somebody else's team that already had its players set up?

Yes he did and so did I, but I made it work pretty well for a first timer.

I'm all for making it three keepers and adding the other two who want in. As far as I can see they are both regular valued posters from the board and would be a great addition to the league.

Also I am completely flexible about any day/time outside of 7-11pm on Saturday the 17th, and the 18th until at least 8 or 9 o'clock.

Alright. If a few others get behind that idea, we'll do that.

Sorta, I saw his team from the year before and took 4 and drafted the rest.

I'm ok with the "start fresh with a total draft" idea as well.

It makes sense if we are expanding the league, but I'm newer and I'll see what the guys who have been around say.

I'm ok with adding 2 more teams, although adding them while maintaining the original keeper format can be problematic. Thinking out loud, how is this for an expansion draft idea...

All current teams keep 3 from their current roster instead of 4.
The 2 new teams do an off-line expansion draft to fill their 3 "keepers" from the remaining pool of non-rookie players (idea is for all teams to start the draft with 3 players who were in the league last year).
The new teams get picks 1 and 2 in the first round and the existing teams get picks 3-12 based on a lottery (compensates the new teams for the fact that they won't likely have access to top 30 players).

Anyway, just an idea of how to expand. Thoughts?
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.

This is kinda what I thought of, and I like this idea. I'm not at all opposed to giving up a keeper and giving them the first picks. Other than doing a complete reset, I think this is the fair thing to do.

Either way works fine for me, but that is well thought out.

Yeah that sounds like a plan. I'll give people another day or two to object, and if nobody does, then we'll put that plan into action.

Lamesause, only three keepers? I think a ten team league is more than enough, personally.

But if we're gonna do it, I'll keep

Derrick Rose
Blake Griffin
Tyreke Evans

How many more people are we talking about? 10 seems good but I'd be willing to go to a MAX of 12. In that case I'll take Dirk, Curry, DWill.
