Sacramento @ Memphis 10/13

Post#1 » by Wolfay » Thu Nov 13, 2014 11:56 pm

Last leg of a roller coaster of a road trip, and arguably the hardest leg. Cousins has generally been playing well this season, but he has struggled against competent defensive frontcourts, and we're about to run into another one this evening anchored by Marc Gasol. If the Kings are to contend for a playoff spot and ultimately contend in the playoffs, Cousins is going to have to figure out how to be dominant against guys like Bogut, Chandler and M. Gasol. He also hasn't been able to react well consistently against double teams, which Memphis will surely employ tonight if they have any kind of scouting. Good news is that Collison is listed as probable tonight and take some pressure off Cousins and Gay, and McLemore is having himself a MIP season worthy of significant praise.

GO KINGS!

I was voting for sitting Collison out one more game. I want him to be around for the long haul. I'm for gradual growth because I believe it is more sustainable. As much as a win would be awesome, I just want us to be competitive for a full 48 minutes, win or lose. A strong, competitive game against one of the best teams in the league on their home court would good for this team.

Making the grizz go to their bench early can only be a good thing for us.

Bad defensive rotation by Casspi.

Casspi costs us 4 points right there, it's the little things that costed us the win in Dallas after we were up by 24 so we have to keep it together

The major difference between being up big against Dallas and the Griz is that Dallas can put up 10-12 points very quick, Memphis doesn't have that ability to do that. Not a fast break and 3 point team, but they were slowly break you down and take the lead eventually.

That's true. The Kings are starting to play more of Memphis slow down style too. Hopefully they stick to managing the clock after the 1st this time. After they cool down and the Grizz adjust is the key.

We really need a big to come off the bench who can challenge some baskets. Happened in Dallas and now starting to happen in Memphis, they just get in the middle too easily against Landry/Evans

Home court call right there. Call the foul on Rudy, but Carter get's the block on Cuz earlier in the quarter.

If Malone is going to run 5 bench guys at any one time he needs to figure out how they should play. I'd say go to Carl. Right now all of this teams personnel flaws are mostly represented on the bench. This is the umpteenth time on this road trip where the 5 new guys have killed all momentum.

Landry and Evans combo does not protect the paint. Roll out the red carpet.

There's a reason why teams come back against us in the 2nd. Evans and Landry have no defensive presence to protect the basket so teams just drive drive drive.
