What is Hassan Whiteside's ceiling?

Can Hassan Whiteside be great or are his "red flags" to much to overcome?

Just thought it was a humorous comparison but for the record the reason why he's not as high on draft boards despite his freakish size and length is because I believe he was kicked off the team at Marshall this year.

He's raw as a spring chicken but honestly when you look at some of the moves he's shown his ceiling however unlikely it is that he can reach it, is that of a poor man's Garnett.

Probably a better comparison than Chandler. He has a chance to be one of best shot blockers in the league

I worry that he got dominated by Jerome Jordan when they played Tulsa.

He's not a headcase; he's just incredibly immature and "slow". His ceiling? Theo Ratlif or so, possibly but with a better jumper?

Hassan Whiteside on Ford's chat
Question: hassan, what NBA player do you compare yourself to (if anyone)
Answer: Probably Kevin Garnett on offense and Hakeem on defense. But not anyone specifically.

He see his ceiling as KG + Dream = Dreaming KG

Tyson Chandler in one of his good years. That or Joel Pryzbilla.

I think he is mostly an unknown. Marshal doesn't play the best competition. He has very nice length but is going to get pushed around by players who carry a lot more weight in the NBA. Most likely a 2-3 year project. Huge upside, but also a big chance to be a total bust if he doesn't have it together between the ears.

He was a 2nd round pick, not sure he'll ever be a "bust" if he doesn't work out.

Whiteside is a fantastic guy to take a second round flyer on for the pure athleticism and upside.

I'm liking Camby as a rough upside, and if he turns out to be even a poor man's version, that's still a pretty awesome pick in the 2nd round. Gonna take time to develop though, nothing but garbage minutes for a while IMO.

I don't think he will receive significant minutes behind our big man platoon of Cousins, Landry, Thompson and Dalembert.

Whiteside is the odd man out here.

I think he will start getting a lot of minutes once Dalembert expires.

If he shows flashes and some impact on court this year, it is gravy.
