Hawkins went 14th, seemed pretty standard for where most mock drafts had him. You yourself had him 15th, so not sure why you are beating your chest like you had him as a crusher.

1) just posting updates, don't need to "beat my chest" about anything

2) there were a lot of garbage takes that didn't make sense re: Hawkins, all you had to do was read this thread, even some of your own analysis

3) you're very close on going on the ignore list like the other clown running around this board, keep it up

On the flip side it is easy to see him struggling to impact the game in other ways and if his shooting is just good and not great it could look like a pretty bad pick quickly.

I just was pushing back on him being some elite offensive weapon that will be a center point of offensive schemes, think he is going to be more of a stand in the corner type of guy when all said and done.

Please tell me where this garbage take of mine is?

He went 14th, I said I am fine with him in that range. He is in a good spot where he can play off 2 top 50 offensive players as I stated.
68.5% of his shot attempts are 3s, 100% of his threes are assisted. 1/3 of his threes are corner threes. Hard to say I was way off in how he would be used thus far.

Imagine flexing nuts about a guy who you had lower on your board than where he was actually drafted.

Man, this Hawkins dude looks top 10 in this class. He was NBA ready for sure. His game translates because he can stress an entire defense when the ball is nowhere near him. Such a hard worker at UConn and really a gifted shooter. He was pretty close to can't miss as a prospect. Pelicans got a steal.

Some bashed down Hawkins to late first round which is absolutely disgusting.

Kudos to those who advocated for him. I felt he wouldn't escape the lottery.

Time we stop taking elite/versatile shooters outside the top 10?

I would never have a rigid rule like that.
I was right about 3 point shooting. I expect to be right about Tacko Fall. Some coach will figure out how to use Tacko Fall. This movement towards undersized centers will sweep ng back. Back to the basket scorers will return to the NBA.

Commentary is on the archetype - it has premium value in today's NBA. Obviously, no one is holding hard and fast to "must be top 10". Mostly, talking about the flack we were taking for saying "Hawkins should be top 10."

Shooting always had a premium value in the NBA. But so does defense, passing, ball handling etc. Is Anthony Morrow a top 10 pick automatically? There are plenty of great college shooters who aren't automatic top 10 picks even if they continue to shoot in the NBA (Hauser, Merrill types, etc). I mean even Buddy Hield in retrospect one of the greatest shooters in NBA history, but he has so many other flaws that have caused him to bounce around the league. Seth Curry, etc.

It does. So why was Jordan Hawkins a bad top 10 pick? Buddy Hield was drafted top 10. And my bad, clyde and I were agreeing on this one.

Hawkins is a small off guard. Just not an archetype I ever can fall in love with if all he does is shoot. So far that's all I see. A small 2 who can maybe shoot well (although right now doesn't look elite there either). Now that's not to say he can't end up being a top 10 guy from this class. You never know how many guys actually hit and he may be one of them. Doesn't really change how I feel about the archetype though. It would just change how I feel about this particular instance of that archetype.

Hawkins has been pretty MIA since December. Averaging 4 ppg in 12 mpg over his last 8 games.

An ill fitting roster with a lot of talent.

Add in a coach that can't balance the talent that he has. He basically starts the game with only one 3 point shooter with his 2 star players, who 1 can't score outside of 5 feet and the other who refuses to shoot the 3 ball and prefers the mid range shot. He continues to do that when the subs comes in and always leaves 2-3 non shooters with 1 of their stars in the game.
