Damn at all the people putting Beasley above Hibbert. Beasley's standard night is 26 points on 24 shots. I'm not sure I'd put Beasley in my top 15. Either he inefficiently stat stuffs on a bad team or he gets lost without touches on a good one. Maybe as a 6th man he'd be OK

Re: REDO Draft Class of 2008
ha, Brook and Robin Lopez's stat arcs are weirdly coordinated. Brook goes from 17 to 20 to 17 PER his first 3 years. Robin from 11 to 17 to 11. Both guys efficiencies nosedived this year. I'd expect both to get it back but still, hmm

Re: REDO Draft Class of 2008
Beasley is more of a perimeter guy and a guy who can slash. Of course his fg% won't be like a Hibbert who plays with his back to the basket.
Still he's shooting 47% from 2 pt range and 41% from 3 pt land.
Not exactly bad.
Beasley is a big time talent who is just emerging, kid can play
I mean based off your assumption you wouldn't rate Kevin Durant high either. Durant is 42% from 2 pt range and 27% from 3 pt land. Besides scoring 5.5 more pts a game his other stats aren't marketably higher than beasley's.
And I will preface this by saying Durant is better, just think your argument is flawed.

Yeah, hard to imagine that's coming from confidence in Beasley - probably people just still aren't sure about Hibbert being able to keep it up.

First of all Durant gets to the FT line 9+ times a game which vastly improves his efficiency. Durant is a .55 TS% player right now and will probably be .60 TS% for the long term, he's looked more stable. Beasley is a .50-.52 TS% guy.
The problem with Beasley is his game is way too reliant on 20 foot jumpshots rather than scoring inside. Durant last year scored incredibly inside and from 3 and was actually bad from 20 feet. Big difference.
To be a major scorer you have to get points at the rim. Durant gets them, Beasley doesn't. Beasley is not a major scorer, he's a chucker.

Re: REDO Draft Class of 2008
My first reaction was to call everyone hatters because Gallo was on none of the first peoples top ten. Then I realized I probably wouldn't have taken him over pretty much any of them. He's not even a bust. Thats the sign of a deep year when a homer wouldn't even pick his own guy desite him playing pretty damn well. My list:
1) Rose 6) Gordon
2) Wesbrook 7) Magee
3) Hibbert 8)Beasley
4) Love 9) Mayo
5) Lopez 10) Ibaka/Gallo/Batum too close to call

Last couple of games, Beasley has been driving the ball a ton. He just needs to improve on initiating the contact and getting the foul, and kicking the ball out when the lane is just closed. He really isnt getting the calls yet as well (Recent twolves-Thunder game is good proof of that. I think that was one of the worst officiated games ive seen this year)

Re: REDO Draft Class of 2008
It's hard to believe Gordon is only on the list at 4th,5th, 6th and even 9th. This guy is a total stud. Here is his line:
G MIN FGM-A FG% 3PM-A 3P% FTM-A FT% OFF DEF TOT STL BLK TO PF AST PTS
21 37.4 164-358 .458 28-103 .272 154-192 .802 0.9 2.5 3.4 1.19 .52 2.90 2.29 4.5 24.3
His shooting has been off this season, but normally that is his strong point and is coming around, especially the 3pointer. But he is now one of the best drivers in the league. The guy is a pure scorer with incredible toughness and drive without any attitude. Kind, soft-spoken kind of guy too. He was one of the only players that showed up to Ron Artest's "Mental Health" charity party after the Lakers/Clippers game for example.
He is 7th in the league in scoring and on the Clippers I don't really see that dropping much. He is their go-to guy now.
And yet looking at the other players, I can understand his ranking. There were a ton of studs in that draft. Maybe he is a little underrated though because he is on the clippers I think. What do you guys think? Have you seen him play this year?

Re: Redux: First 10 picks of 2008 Draft
I think Gordon's great, but he drops on lists because there are a few big men showing major potential. You can make a good case that Gordon's been the 4th best player in the draft so far, but it's still questionable whether going forward you're rather have him than any of Hibbert/Ibaka/McGee/Lopez.

The top 10 lists here that have Augustin but not Gallinari are about as dumb as anything you'll find on RealGM.
Zach Randolph + Kevin Durant >>>>>>> Greg Oden. Bob Whitsitt>>>>>> Kevin Pritchard.
