Bismack Biyombo

Post#1 » by DeBlazerRiddem » Thu Mar 31, 2011 5:16 pm

Hey, this 18 year old just showed up on http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-mock-draft/2011/

I hadn't seen him before, while I had been keeping my eye on PF/C prospects for the Blazers post-lottery pick. The draftexpress profile doesn't give very much information, just one year of stats, so I am wondering if anyone knows what got him recently placed in the first round.

Was it just that he recently declared? Or did he have an impressive performance somewhere? Is he an 18 year old being drafted on potential of an NBA body, or has he shown true basketball skills?

Finallly, if someone does have snippets of information about him, would he be a better option at PF/C than resigning, for example, Jeff Pendergraph?

i looked him up a while ago when i saw his name in the lotto for the 2012 draft. supposedly, he's been so impressive in spanish ACB play in limited minutes (he was only recently promoted in january) that i guess DX bumped him up a yr. what i've read is that he has parts of seraphin and ibaka's games. hes not quite as springy or tall as ibaka, but he does have very long arms and shot blocking instincts. he also plays with aggressiveness and physicality like seraphin.
he's not just a shot blocker though. hes shown plenty of improvement in his mid range game and is supposedly a quick learner.

sure he'd be better pickup than jeff pendergraph, but how many draft and stash players do the blazers have already?
i dont think he'll come over immediately like seraphin did.
if the blazers are able to get another big man via FA, then selecting biyombo over a guy like pendergraph would be a no brainer.

he's averaging:
6.4 ppg
4.8 rebounds
2.2 bpg(comfortable acb leader)

never seen him play but he is very undersized for a 4 but aparently had very long arms and is althletic.

I've been pimping him hard on the Warriors board so that he and Ekpe Udoh can form an Epek Bitchsmack frontline. I don't know much about him, just that he has an awesome name.

but if he has long arms than he isn't undersized!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I mean, how hard is it to understand that height itself doesn't mean anything! It's just easier to estimate size only by watching someone, but ever since we have all measurements standing-reach is much more important than height.

In the ACB's official page:

http://www.acb.com/jugador.php?id=766

And today's news:

Has been selected to play the Nike Hoop Summit.

And Maldonado says (Biyombo's coach): "If Bismack Biyombo take the plane to play a friendly match in the United States, may leave to play in the Fuenlabrada's first team "

It looks like he and the coach are playing chicken with each other. He looks like Ibaka to me before coaching from two youtube videos that I watched. I know absolutely nothing about him so I actually came here for some info.

if he does play at the hoop summit, it could mean hes interested in more exposure in america which could mean he's closer to coming over.
i wonder if he has any buy out issues at all.

Stylistically and just the way he moves on the court is eerily similar to Greg Oden.

I miss big G.O.

In my opinion, He hasn't got level to go to the NBA yet. So I think that he should not play the game because they probably have to play in Europe a few years yet.
And the player has more years of contract with the club and has no professional contract yet, which could send him to play with the Fuenlabrada's second team.

No need to apologize, I think everyone understands your point. I certainly couldn't write a post in another language and have it be even remotely decipherable.

According to acb.com he's 2.04 m, that's slightly over 6'8", but in Europe the players are ussually measured barefoot, so he'll probably be a legit 6'9" with shoes.
If you want to try to measure the elements of basketball that are supposedly unmeasurable, spend a game just watching Marc Gasol.

nice. hopefully he doesnt have any buy out issues and will declare for this draft. this is a sign he wants to get to the NBA ASAP. hes under contract til 2014, but his quick ascent in the organization was kinda unforeseen.

also
Bismack Biyombo has a clause in his contract specifically allowing him to attend #NikeHoopSummit. Team is way out of line w/these threats. 4:50 AM Apr 1st via ÜberSocial Retweeted by 2 people
