Top 3 prospects next year.

Post#1 » by [The-Warriors] » Fri Jun 29, 2012 5:11 am

Who are your Top 3 prospects for the 2013 draft. I know its a little premature, but the draft is over so I want to kill some time.

1.) Shabazz Muhammad
2.) Cody Zeller
3.) Nerlens Noel

shabazz
adams

and umm...

tony mitchell?

tough call but im not big on noel or zeller....or mcadoo for that matter.
a lot of these projected top guys have so much to learn. not zeller, but i think his upside is limited.

2013 looks kind of bleak. i hope some unheralded freshmen surprise and climb up the ranks.

Mohammed's the only one I'm pretty sure of. Noel is probably too with the hype already being so huge on him, it's hard to see his stock plummet that far. Everybody else, it's hard to call top 3. Probably could put together a top 10, but any number of guys could shuffle around in the top 3 before next year

I can't believe no one has mentioned McAdoo.

what do you like about him? im curious.

all i saw last yr was a tweener with good athleticism, a developed body, but very little skill and a poor feel for the game.
he was billed by some as a future big SF, but he displayed no legit SF skill. couldnt shoot, couldnt handle, had stiff hips, no legit offensive moves (unless you count the short running, floating jumper he has) with weird shot selection.

The guy I like a lot that hasn't been mentioned is Alex Poythress.

From what I saw of him - nice looking prospect who plays hard at both ends but a bit on the small side for a PF. But I'd definitely rate him ahead of McAdoo.

It's wayyy too early for me to tell, but it doesn't smell like a good draft next year - both in terms of top talent (unless Noel develops a lot faster than I think he will) and depth. Shabazz takes over games, but is it because he's that good, or is it because he's got the need to control everything to the possible detriment of his team?

Shabazz - I know some like to overblow his flaws because he's a phenom but his game fits the NBA perfectly. Attack the basket, get to the line and dominate the open floor. I would've taken him 2nd in the draft out of high school. His measurements are terrific as well - 6'5" 223 with a 7 ft wingspan!

i think he's in the mix as well. the question i have about him is if he'll be skilled enough to be a 3 at the next level. i think his size would be optimized there.

Gobert looks legit to me. When I heard about his scary length a few weeks ago I was expecting him to be one of those tall skinny projects that can't really play, but he looks athletic, fluid and capable around the rim in this clip. Teams won't need a lot to buy into a 7'9 wingspan C, especially in a weak draft. I think it'll be hard for an international to go #1 but I could see him being the niche 2nd

Goodwin seems like a good bet to be one of the big names. Big SG who can score and every athletic UK freshman should be on the shortlist of top 5 pick candidates

If John Wall was once a resounding number 1 pick, I don't see how Rodney Purvis doesn't go lottery. Guards with his physical tools and body control don't come around too often. I'm interested to see how he adjusts to the college game and if he displays any PG skills. If he does he could go very high.

Gobert looks alot like Valanciunas. Taller, longer but way less skill.

Purvis, Smart and Robinson are going to be top10 picks, but I'm not sure if 2013, or 2014, I think 3 of them would stay til their Soph year.

I haven't really seen Gobert play outside some highlights. Does he have any offense at all? I know he was going against a lot of zone in, but the defenses didn't seem too concerned with him in most those clips.

i think purvis and robinson III have shots for 2013, but not smart.
smart is such a weird guy to project because his best strengths are his intangibles. i can see him being a 3-4 yr guy.
