To how much of a risk you believe Bennett is for lotto teams?

Any pro-Bennett want to give your argument for why he should be taken high in the draft?

Unless his health checks out poorly I don't see him as risky in comparison to the rest of this draft, in fact I think he's one of the more likely starters

He's a risk because the history of players like him is about as terrible of a history as possible and because he's extremely apathetic and pretty dumb. And he's a scorer with no post moves and little in advanced scoring moves at all.

If that's what you think about him he'd be a huge risk, but you'd be wrong.

I think that 99% of the players in the NBA draft carry some sort of risk. You don't really know how a guy is going to adjust to the league (in terms of skills, lifestyle, and attitude) until he actually gets there. That's why I think interviews are so important, as they give a team some knowledge into a player's personality.

I honestly don't know much about Bennett's work ethic, but I do think that he's definitely worth taking a risk on in the lottery (if interviews check out and such). He might be undersized in terms of height, but he's a great athlete with a very strong build. His shooting ability will definitely help his game carry over to the next level. The main problem with Bennett revolves around his defense. I think that he could become at least a solid defender if he goes to an organization that knows how to teach good defense. He's got the physical tools to be a good defender, so if he puts the work in then I don't see why he couldn't.

people really believe that he will be a bust just because Derrick Williams hasn't been a star, and Michael Beasley is an idiot loser. they completely ignore all the great 3/4 swingers in the league, including the two current best players in the league in LeBron and Durant and even Melo . before anyone spazzes out, I'm not saying Bennett is on that level. But its just unfair to only bring up the guys that bust and act like that means nobody can succeed as a 3/4 tweener. they do, ALL THE TIME. and its not like its a boom or bust thing either, he may not turn into Melo but that doesn't automatically make him Michael Beasley either like people always say. there are plenty of guys inbetween that have succeeded to a level like Al Harrington or Antawn Jamison

Bennett is a top 7 player in the draft. He is a no brainer lotto pick and not a risk at all. He's a steal from #7 on.

Sounds like an assessment from the Kings or T'Wolves front office...hope he slides all the way to Philly!! He has as much star quality of any player I've seen in this draft.

definitely risky since he's injury prone and lazy on the court. his chances of reaching his potential could be held back by his complete lack of intangibles.
he wouldnt even be top 10 on my big board.

I agree with him being about 7th in the draft. As a Wizards fan, before the draft I was hoping he would slip to 8 or 9. However comparing him to other options at 3, he doesn't seem to be a great pick.

He is an eye of the beholder type guy who some love and others are meh on. If this thread was how much of a risk is Bennett as a top 5 pick, I'd have said he's decently risky. But, as a lotto pick, he's a no brainer.

He's not a risk. He simply has a lower ceiling... Al Harrington

If his ceiling were Al Harrington, he has no business going in the lotto. Luckily for him, I think his ceiling is significantly higher than that. His bigger issue is a low floor, so he has bust potential.

i think if he produces like al harrington then that means that he panned out, both in terms of reaching his potential and making good on his lotto status in this draft. i dont see his ceiling as much higher than what baby al became.

He screams a more offensive-minded Jason Maxiell/DeJuan Blair. Not a terrible player but a complete stretch to go in the lottery in even the crappiest of drafts. Would rather keep the McRoberts/Mullens combo than draft this guy who is going to be a bench player in the NBA.

I'm actually very weary of Bennett, and thus, would hesitate to take him in the lotto. He's really talented, but I'm a bit concerned about his 'motor', and overall stamina/conditioning. He just seems like someone who will mesmerize you one game, & be a no-show the next.

Who do you take in his place? I don't know, but Zeller, perhaps Dieng (who is I think is undervalued in this draft particularly) might be better options.

Ehh, Bennett is a lot more skilled than Robinson, but has far worse intangibles. Probably more like Bargnani or Beasley.
