Christian Wood

His game against Arizona was really impressive, and he is going to have some insane measurements at the combine. What do you guys think about him? To me, he screams top 10 prospect...but I might be reading too much into a really good game.

eh. he's long, decently athletic. not overly quick but springy.
what is his identity? i remember him in HS being a skinny stretch, but an inconsistent shooter.
i guess he could still be a stretch since i don't ever see him being effective in the post, but does he have a counter to closeouts?

Wanna see what he does today. I'm not overly impressed with the kid.

He plays for UNLV, thats a do not want for me, that team is full of negative IQ guys.
Wood has all the tools, he is even a good shooter from deep.
He just lacks feel for the game, and well, strength of course.
In the late first range... maybe.

is that sub 30% from deep misleading then? is his stroke better than the numbers show?

He's clearly raw, but has a lot of potential. Shouldn't enter the draft this season because he'll spend his time in the D-League. I see him as a mid second-rounder right now.

I have literally watched him play every game so far. He has definitely taken a step forward this year and has gained some more weight to his frame. He is a modern 4 in this league, with decent ball handling skills and shooting. He is also a very good shot blocker.

Right now he reminds me a lot of Anthony Randolph, he just never panned out in the NBA. If Wood is smart, he will stay another year at UNLV, he is still the same age as most of the freshmen coming out next year.

He's not staying. This will be his last year.

As for him as a player, he's simply not a gamer. He lacks confidence, toughness, and basketball intelligence. If, and it's a big if, he gains those three things, he can be really good: he has just enough skill to step out as a stretch 4, but has the length and quickness to be effective on the post (assuming he gets strong enough in his base in order to play against the stronger NBA 4s). I'd take him any where after 12; take him before that and you'll be disappointed as it's going to take him a few years to get NBA-ready.
