Funny how international prospects are always projected(even in best case scenario) to some bad or borderline mediocre players but every year from NCAA we have new Harden,Duncan,Cousins,Curry,Conley,Wall,Pierce,Kawhi...

That's kind of what I project Stan Johnson to be - a tough, physical forward (not to the extent of prime Artest) who will be a plus rebounder.

I am not going to say they are all bad, but wow guys you are overall crazy optimistic with your comparisons unless you mean them only as an exercise of style.

Prime Richard Jefferson was better than prime Caron Butler dawg. He'd be more than decent if he turned out to be Richard Jefferson.

No he wasnt. You need to look at his stats again if that is what you are going by. Butler was better all around, better longer, and didnt have Jason Kidd to boost his numbers

Man, maybe since I'm a Raptors fan, my views on who's prime was better is a bit altered, 'cause Jefferson destroyed the Raptors often whenever he faced us, and when you look at his career numbers, as well compare Jefferson's single-season bests to Butler's, Jefferson compares favorably to Butler. It's actually pretty even, but Jefferson's WS/48 is higher, and his single best season (~23 PPG) beats Butler's.

Check it for yourself here:

http://www.basketball-reference.com/pla ... 4=&p5=&p6=

Anyway, Stan Johnson's profile is more Butler to me than Jefferson, who was quite the athlete coming into the league.

Jefferson used to average like 4 TO's a game in his prime if i remember correctly. I'd take prime Caron over him.

Edit: Just checked, no he didn't

Some of the comparisons i liked and hadn't thought of myself in this thread...
Mudiay
Median Case Scenario: Worse shooting Jrue

I can see that
Has anybody made the Caron Butler comparison for Stanley Johnson?

Hadn't thought of that, that's possible!
Towns
Median Case Scenario: Rasheed Wallace

Good one!
Okafor
Best Case Scenario: Greg Monroe

Yep! But maybe with less passing and more post scoring skill.
Kaminsky
likelier - Donatas Motiejunas

Good one
Montrezl Harrell:
optimistic - Antonio Davis

Good one

Some of the comparisons that i didn't like...
Kaminksy
Median Case Scenario: Troy Murphy

Hmm dunno about that one. Murphy was a rebounding specialist (who could shoot). Rebounding is a question mark for Kaminsky.
Kaminsky
Median Case Scenario: Josh McRoberts

Naaaww. McRoberts is athletic as hell.
Delon Wright
Best Case Scenario: Latrell Sprewell
Median Case Scenario: Tim Hardaway jr

Waaay off. Delon is a PG who struggles with shooting and isn't that athletic. Sprewell is a SG scoring machine who was athletic as hell. Tim Hardaway is like a pure SG type.

Anyway here's some more of my own...

Montrezl Harrell
  • Best Case Scenario: Kenneth Faried / Ben Wallace hybrid
  • Median Case Scenario: A more athletic Jason Maxiell
  • Worst Case Scenario: Some raw athletic PF/C type that washes out of the league

Tyus Jones
  • Best Case Scenario: Steve Nash-lite
  • Median Case Scenario: Tyler Ellis
  • Worst Case Scenario: ends up playing in Europe
