The Spreadsheet is finally updated. There are a couple players oddly out of position as I attempted to make things slightly fit, but definitely tell me if your roster is incorrect.

This would be my depth chart:
Wall / Thornton
Bogdan / Ross
Barnes / Saric / Dekker
Mirotic / DMo
Val / Tavares

Basically, just put Dekker on the UTL list, Saric at backup SF and DMo at backup PF. Thanks.

Done deal.

Thanks bro!

Now that we are in Round 12, I was wondering how you guys would like to vote to determine a winner. Obviously it will be based on how well you build your futures team 5-10 years from now from your perspective. Also, you can take into account-team chemistry/fit/injury prone/etc.

This is what I have done in the past--participants send me the seedings, I composite the average score, which will help make a bracket (4 teams will get byes for 12 teams). Each team has a write-up for each round and participants will vote on the winner (need 6 votes). Seedings will not be revealed until the end of the game for it to be more entertaining. We can go that route if people are interested.

I am open to any suggestions and would love to read what you guys think. May the best team win!

I think each team should have a write up before the seedings so that the team owner can elaborate on how their team is constructed, what kind of path they are taking and how they plan on running the team in the 5 years (5 years is a long time, a lot can change from the beginning to the end)

obviously then each person can vote on the seedings at their discretion but then the write ups for the rounds can be for how their team matches up with the opponent

VOTING
Good idea. I'm not going to make it a requirement for each team since it's up to the owner, but participants can do a small or (long if they like) write-up about their team and why their team should be viewed as a number 1 seed including how team was constructed/future plans. Participants can post their write-up on here if they like starting now. I will make a overall summary once the draft is over so everyone can read the write-ups for every team before voting.

Current Idea:

1) Participants rank the teams to make seedings (excluding their team) based on write-ups (team constructed/future plans)/how well you build your futures team 5-10 years from now from your perspective. Also, you can take into account-team chemistry/fit/injury prone/etc. Participants would PM me the seedings. I would make my seedings first FYI.

2) I composite the average score once I receive all the seedings. 4 teams will get byes for 12 team playoffs bracket. Seedings will not be revealed until the end of the game for it to be more entertaining.

3) Participants will have write-ups on why they are better than their opponent and should move on to the next round for every match. Participants will vote on every match-up until we find a champion. A team needs 6 votes to move on to the next round (your vote/opponent vote does not count)

Any other/better ideas about voting before we start the process? If you have any questions or comments, feel free to post on here. It will be very interesting to see the match-ups and how the voting plays out!

WRITE-UP FOR #1 SEED

ChicagoSportsFan21
PG: Eric Bledsoe (30-35)
SG: Klay Thompson (30-35)
SF: Jimmy Butler (30-35)
PF: Draymond Green (30-35)
C: Anthony Davis (27-32)

Bench:
SF: Otto Porter Jr. (27-32)
PF: Terrence Jones (28-33)
C: Enes Kanter (28-33)
SG: Archie Goodwin (25-30)
PG: Demetrius Jackson (25-30) *College
SG: Caris LeVert (25-30) *College

My team deserves to get the number one seed in the game since I believe I built the best team not only in 5 years, but 10 years from now too. Plus I have the best player in the game not only in 5 years, but 10 years from now as well, and that is no other than Anthony Davis who will be in his prime. I will do anything and everything possible to make Anthony Davis a happy player for these five years. He was obviously the cornerstone piece that I built my franchise around. I wanted players who would fit well with Anthony Davis that will help him get his touches on offense and complement him well on defense.

In addition, I wanted players who are two way players that will be able to play both sides of the ball effectively as evident by my starting line-up of Bledsoe, Thompson, Butler, Green, and Davis. This starting five is unselfish who will work well playing together, which will help with team chemistry. The work ethic of this starting five is off the charts with them playing with passion and heart on every single play like it’s their last. I have the vocal leader in Green who will provide spark when needed with his grittiness. There’s also Thompson who is one of the best shooters in the game who can light it up at any time especially from distance. Spacing on offense will help Davis do his thing from everywhere on the court with all four other starters more than capable to shoot 3s or score from the inside. This team will definitely run..run..run on offense when getting a steal, block, or rebound on the other end with it being tough for any team to stop this starting five on the open floor. Also, the versatility of this starting five will cause match-up problems due to their ability of being able to play multiple positions. Good luck beating them on either end of the floor with their offensive prowess and defensive tenacity.

Some may say this team was built to only win in the beginning of five year window, but I believe I have a plethora of players who will be able to step right up when the starters get older and they may move to the bench. Jones and Otto Porter Jr. are two way players who have already showed flashes of skill to be starters in the league as evident when given playing time this past season. Then there are young players such as Goodwin, Jackson, and LeVert who have a ton of potential to have a solid career in the NBA. At the end of the five year window, veterans should be able to mentor and get the younger players ready for the big stage from their wealth of experience.

Honestly, I can see my team contend every year for the championship especially when having a prime Anthony Davis who will be the best player on the court. This team has it all-offense, defense, and most importantly, x factors/intangibles which is needed for a championship team. It wouldn’t shock me if this team ended up winning 5 championships in a row!

In order for the game to finish in a timely manner (I'm sure some of you guys will enjoy this fast pace finish compared to the draft lol), here is the tentative schedule for the rest of the game. Since there were no other suggestions, we will be voting the way I sent a PM about. Hopefully the pace of the voting of the playoff matches will bring more discussion/activity!!!

Schedule (all due 12 AM central time USA)
7/27-Draft Done
7/28-Seedings Due/Reveal

Note: You have about 2 days to send in your seedings (Sunday/Monday). You can send in your seedings now via PM (exclude your team, 11 total). You can wait to see if more teams will do a write-up (not required) before sending your seedings in. Seedings based on write-ups (team constructed/future plans)/how well you build your futures team 5-10 years from now from your perspective. Also, you can take into account-team chemistry/fit/injury prone/etc. Please look at the first post in the draft thread for full rosters/picks or Domejandro's spreadsheet when making seedings.

I have done my seedings already. I will calculate the average score to make seedings. It will be 12 team playoffs bracket with 4 team bye (need 6 votes to move on to next round). Seedings revealed after the game.

7/29-Write-up due for Round 1
7/30-Voting for Round 1
8/1-Write-up due for Round 2 (Quarterfinals)
8/2-Voting for Round 2 (Quarterfinals)
8/3-Write-up due for Round 3 (Semifinals)
8/4-Voting for Round 3 (Semifinals)
8/6-Write-up due for Round 4 (Championship)
8/8-Voting for Round 4 (Championship)

Note: If I don't receive a write-up, I will just include your roster for the team when posting the matches. Championship match has 2 days instead of 1 day for write-up/voting due to it determining a winner.

Six more picks!

I will submit my write up in a couple days.

There are actually five picks left! Also, I just wanted to let you know that if you want to do the write-up for seedings, it may be beneficial to do them earlier rather than waiting a couple days since seedings are due/revealed on 7/28 12 am central time.

When drafting this team, not only did I consider two-way athletes, but I also considered length and running in transition. Rubio will be setting up his guys or Love with the outlet pass. Versatility is another strength of this team. Jaylen and Kawhi can play either position, same as Kyle Anderson and Bobby Portis. We have a lot of young talent mixed with prime players and players whose games will age nicely. Even as players age, there will be others who will be entering their primes.

Re: Realgm NBA Futures Draft Discussion (SEEDINGS DUE VIA PM: 7/28 12 AM CENTRAL TIME USA)

Post#252 » by ChicagoSportsFan21 » Sun Jul 26, 2015 7:41 pm

I got the player that I wanted to choose last round, but I was able to wait it out and fall to me with the last pick! The two players I was looking at last round were Leonard and Henson, which I was going back and forth with. Luckily, PaKii94 made the decision easier as he chose Leonard and I was leaning towards Henson anyway so it all worked out.

Draft is finally complete..thanks for all your hard work and patience. Now it is time for phase 2 of the game, which is voting.

Some players who went undrafted in the game:

PG: Derrick Rose, Mike Conley, Kemba Walker, Ty Lawson, Brandon Jennings, Cory Joseph
SG: Lance Stephenson, Dion Waiters, Evan Fournier
SF: Nicolas Batum
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge, Gorgiu Dieng, Markieff Morris, Ed Davis, Patrick Patterson, Cody Zeller
C: Dwight Howard, Marc Gasol, Al Horford, Roy Hibbert

Interesting/Cool/Unknown Fact of the Game: ONE team did not have any players selected in the game. Can you guess which team?

Spoiler:
Memphis Grizzlies!

from that list I would say dieng and gasol are the snubs. Gasol's game should age gracefully and dieng is a good young bigman. However, I already had my bigmen rotation set. As for henson, I was considering him earlier but his game wouldnt fit with WCS or Stone so I decided to pass

PG: Kris Dunn (26-31)/Jordan Clarkson (28-33)
SG: Mario Hezonja (25-30)/Alec Burks (29-34)/SG: R.J. Hunter (26-31)
SF: Paul George (30-35)/Bruno Caboclo (24-29)
PF: Kristaps Porzingis (24-29)/Julius Randle (25-30)/PF: Ivan Rabb (23-28)
C: Joel Embiid (26-31)/C: Brook Lopez (32-37)

the starters are really balanced. You got a slasher, great playmaker and defender in PG position, and i surrounded Joel Embiid with 3 great and talented shooters. They are not only shooters but can create their own offense too ! They also pretty unselfish, Kris Dunn averaging 8 apg in college, George 8 apg, Hezonja was a PG before the growth spurt, and Porzingis envisioned by Pjax to play in triangle set without so much problem. We know triangle need great passer from the post player. Kris, George, Embiid are all great defenders, Porzingis with his length alone can block Okafor multiple times in SL.

bigmen position is set, i mean you can't find any lineup that stronger. Imagine Embiid and Porzingis protecting the paint with their length and quickness, and imagine when Embiid dominating inside and Porzingis, George and Hezonja are camping outside 3pt line, nobody would brave enough to double him LOL !

their bench ? Wow, where do i begin, Julius Randle can slash, can finish through contact, has good nose for rebound, fast, quick, one of the strongest PF in the game. just look at his highlight. Rabb is one of the most talented players from next draft. I believe he will be in the mix for top 3 draft next year. Brook Lopez doesn't even need athlethichism. He will punish you with great footwork and soft touch from the post, he is also consumate professional and hard worker, barely complaining. He also averaging around 2 bpg last year.

Wing..Mario, George are great shooters, can slash, can create their own offense and very accomplished passers. Caboclo is a freak, if people think Antetokounmpo will be a great player based on his athletic profile, then Caboclo too ! Caboclo already a better 3pt shooter than Antetokounmpo. Alec Burks is an all arounder. He doesn't have weakness. He can shoot, he can pass, he can rebound (for a wing) and could play defense a little. Perfect complement for Hezonja or George if one of them hit the bench, or even play alongside Caboclo without any problem. RJ Hunter is probably one of the best shooter in the country with decent size (6'6, unlike Redick).

Kris Dunn.. 17 ppg, 7.5 assist, 2.8 steal, 5.9 rebound. Clarkson is a 2nd rounder that included in all rookie first team in 2014 stacked draft. What else to say ?

this team will fit like gloves and nobody would stop them.

as for injury, meh, its blind luck, even ironmen like Westbrook and Howard who play 82 games every seasons until their injury.

FYI: Seedings are due via PM by tomorrow night at the latest (7/28 12 AM Central Time USA) in about 24 HOURS from NOW. I need seedings from EVERYBODY so please do not forget to send them NOW or before tomorrow night at the latest. Seedings based on write-ups if done (team constructed/future plans)/how well you build your futures team 5-10 years from now from your perspective. Also, you can take into account-team chemistry/fit/injury prone/etc. Some references are below to help you make the seedings:

Rosters

ChicagoSportsFan21
PG: Eric Bledsoe (30-35)
SG: Klay Thompson (30-35)
SF: Jimmy Butler (30-35)
PF: Draymond Green (30-35)
C: Anthony Davis (27-32)

Bench:
SF: Otto Porter Jr. (27-32)
PF: Terrence Jones (28-33)
C: Enes Kanter (28-33)
SG: Archie Goodwin (25-30)
PG: Demetrius Jackson (25-30) *College
SG: Caris LeVert (25-30) *College
C: John Henson (29-34)

Write-up:

Write-up:
When drafting this team, not only did I consider two-way athletes, but I also considered length and running in transition. Rubio will be setting up his guys or Love with the outlet pass. Versatility is another strength of this team. Jaylen and Kawhi can play either position, same as Kyle Anderson and Bobby Portis. We have a lot of young talent mixed with prime players and players whose games will age nicely. Even as players age, there will be others who will be entering their primes.
I can see this team contending for a title for years to come because versatility/match-ups are what win titles. My team can go big or small.

I love all the people in my team. In frontcourt we have a defensive demon in Noel that I'll utilize as PF. I can pair him either with Nurkic or Myles because the two of them can give space. Noel-Turner / Noel-Nurkic / Turner-Poeltl / Turner-Nurkic will do well because this 5 yeras will be their peak and I'm sure my twin tower combination will going havoc. In wing I have Stanley, KCP, Mcdermott and Justin Anderson that will give a 3 and D or an offensive minded wing. Cant go wrong with this A-list wing roster

Backcourt is my biggest concern. Irving-Ola will be the core, a combination between Offensive-defensive, Three point-slashing and Ola experience played as PG will give Irving a lot of help from 2 position to make play and share the burden. The bench, yeah Melo Trimble had a hype lately but cools down in Pan Am. Irving and Ola will be 28-33 years old and I can utilize Ola in PG thats my insurance if Trimble's talent going south. Then, I add a veteran in Teague to lead in garbage time.

We will fight againsts legend in the making (AD) IN HIS PEAK, thats why my reinforcement will mostly in their peak too and pass some star that hit over 32 years old when the war begins.

Sounds good man, I'm looking forward to your rankings.

Again write ups are not required but seedings are due in about 7 hours. Right now it's very close so all rankings are important. I just want to get the seedings from everyone so we can move on in the game. Everyone received an email or PM about it which has been read so I expect everyone to send them in given that they got two days to do it and shouldn't take too long to do. Thank you everyone for participating!!
