Brandon Miller - Alabama

Post#1 » by The Moose » Sat Nov 19, 2022 7:03 am

Think he deserves a thread, one of my favourite prospects in this class.

6’9 wing that can dribble/pass/shoot, and by shoot I mean really, really shoot. The playmaking/passing flashes have been very intriguing.

15-23 from 3 over his last 3 games, off the catch, off the dribble , movement etc

Obvious comp is a PG13 type

I don't see the PG13 comp. He doesn't have that kind of handle, explosiveness or driving ability. He's a legit spot-up shooter though who can step in make mid-range jumpers

He reminds me a bit of Haliburton. Similar body type, nether guy is an elite run/jump athlete, does a little bit of everything out there - rebounding, passing, defending, tall ball handler, excellent shooter and the stroke is eerily similar. He’s of course not the playmaker/passer Tyrese is at this point in his career, but he has the skill set to be a 6-8 apg type guy in the league.

He's killing it. Cam Johnson-ish
I was right about 3 point shooting. I expect to be right about Tacko Fall. Some coach will figure out how to use Tacko Fall. This movement towards undersized centers will sweep ng back. Back to the basket scorers will return to the NBA.

That jumper is pure and he can shoot it off the dribble. Not overly explosive which is fine because he’s an under control type guy anyways. 7-9 from 3 last night so he’s one of the best shooters in the country with great size.
Would love to get him on the Grizz somehow

Definitely think you have to be very optimistic about his playmaking/handle to arrive at that PG comp. Not saying its improbable, but want to see him versus real competition.

pg isn't a good comp. just plays a completely different style and isn't explosive like pg and that vertical explosiveness is a big part of who pg is. gotta find somebody else.

Here's a comp that might be reasonable for Brandon Miller (and I'm giving Miller some benefit of the doubt on off-the-dribble play). It's......*drum roll*......Otto Porter Jr.

Peja Stojakovic? With a bit more in terms of handling the ball (so maybe Harrison Barnes is a better comp)?

In terms of size, length, athleticism and shooting splits, he's in the same ballpark as Otto Porter at Georgetown. I don't think he's quite as athletic or good at slashing to the rim though.

I like him but I dont see him as a top 5 type pick more top 10ishright now. Hes a older prospect already 20 and hes beating up on some soft teams. Long but not very athletic. Long way to go but hes for sure interesting esp for the Pistons.

This is exactly who I've been thinking of as a comp but didn't want to say.

I think he's probably going to go in the 5 - 8 range. To me, he's clearly an off-ball shooter. His on-ball creation and rim finishing don't make him a #1 option at this point, but as a floor-spacing wing with defensive length on the perimeter he has a lot of value. One of the top shooters in the draft. He also has some clutch gene, an ability to make big plays in key moments.

He's super old and nobody is going to talk about it.

Same age as Jaden Ivey coming in - not too many cared about that.

What are you talking about? Jaden Ivey was a sophomore last year and is only 9 months older than Miller is right now.

Miller is several months older than Chet was as a Freshman, and Chet was old for his class.

Lol. What are YOU talking about? They are basically the same age going into the draft. Try to keep up please. You can be a top 5 pick at that age regardless of class so who gives a **** if they are a frosh or a sophomore.
