1ST Q: SPURS 35 HAWKS 26

Solid looking start, even as we got up 15 briefly only to allow a 6-0 against to finish the Q. We have to be careful about TOs (7!) and ball protection from rebounds (we lead 13-9 overall, but 4-2 against on O boards).

Wemby and KJ were stellar to start us off. Wemby has been very impactful on both ends.

Branham didn't take a shot. We need *something* from him.

We are 6-10 from 3 which is terrific, but we can't fall in love with it. Already towards the end of the Q we were missing them.

We put them to the FT line 6-8 and only getting there 1-1 ourselves so more PITP and more fouls at them while cleaning it up with better ball control and protection are a must. Stay together. Weather the runs. Get on runs of our own.

Sochan that was TOO easy a drive right by you! Get into his space more (I've been saying that a lot). I get Young is hard to stay with, but it's happening with a lot of other players. Hard to guard speedy crafty guards.

Three things Sochan did well there - found the ball to the open man - Cedi on the weak side, stayed at the rim to fight for the rebound, and kept the ball up high to get the foul. Nicely done.

Not a great shot or shot selection by Wemby on that 3 miss. Off balance, too contested, we had lots of time on the clock.

Now a 3 against for a 6-point swing and a Pop timeout.

Just these small mental decisions adding up for swings of score and momentum we have to be careful about.

There's Dieng again sitting with the Spurs brass in their box. I've noticed him at practices, too. Haven't heard of him with us in an official capacity but of course it's nice to have his vet presence. I wonder whether we/he are looking for an official connection at some point.
