I’d be a lot more annoyed with this if we didn’t already have 2 other picks in this draft. Odds of getting a valuable player at either 19 or 31 is practically the same as getting one at 8. Especially in this draft

We didn't start tanking until 4/5 starters went down. That wasn't our intent this season, and it won't be our intent next season either. We're picking in the late lottery next year.

I am quite confident (based on what I have seen from this management team) that the mandate from MLSE is to try to make the playoffs every season. They want to re-tool rather than tank/ rebuild.

They seem pretty committed to Poeltl. I would be surprised if they traded him. If this team seems to be competing for a play-in spot or better, they will stay the course.

They always seem to let team success (or lack therof) dictate their direction.

Sure......if they are a bottom 6 team by the trade deadline, they probably trade him.......but I don't see that happening.

detroit dropped down but brooklyn traded this pick for harden. now they don't have harden and just lost out on the 3rd pick.

yep, remember how they gave IQ a rest day in that last Indiana game. Which could have a major impact on final seedings and our draft position. That sort of process doesn't deserve good result really.

From 2004-2006, Raps missed a critical window to build around Bosh because they drafted so poorly.

Raps have similarly missed a window with Scottie, but at least we still have a 19 this year and Quickly/Barrett/Dick/Poeltl.

Hard to see this as anything but a very poorly managed period, hopefully it's at least done now.

sample size? We had like 3 bad GMs in the past in like 30 years and now people assume there aren't anymore competent GMs out there. Masai is not doing so hot now days anyway. We are literally watching teams run laps around the raptors from a team building and asset management POV.

This is how an abusive relationship looks.

GG Jackson was taken 45th right after the 44th selection by Spurs. Don't equate their mistake as its permanent value.

It’s also fair to point out that we have as many championships as Toronto in the time span the Raptors have actually existed.
