Looks like Topic was hurt tonight, so he might fall out of favour. Maybe he's our OG. As for Zach Edey, he showed a lot at the combine today and that's going to be interesting to watch him rise from the depths.

Alot of signals about how weak this draft if a top 3 and 9 pick are already being shopped.

Either way I can't even see us having enough assets for just the 9th pick.

Memphis would move #9 for Poeltl in a heartbeat.

that would be hilarious, almost like the Poeltl trade never happened

Who do they send back? Marcus smart?

The Houston Rockets and Memphis Grizzlies are reportedly expected to be active shopping their lottery picks ahead of the 2024 NBA draft.

ESPN's Zach Lowe reported the Rockets and Grizzlies are both motivated to win next season and could parlay their picks into veteran help. Houston moved up in the lottery to earn the No. 3 selection, while Memphis sits at No. 9.

I'd just as easily take Don Clingan if he's on the board over that trade

I have mentioned him before, he is a great fit for Toronto. He has ties with Gradey Dick from the Link Academy, he is a plus-size forward with good shooting ability, and he is a good athlete. He is just in that category of being a good-all-around player, but nothing special to hang his hat on. We could use the shooting at forward but there are more elite options in the draft. I kind of wonder if he is a guy who will put it all together because he can be pretty invisible in games.

So would I. This is assuming he won't be there at 9, and he very well might not be.

Yes, I think Topic with two knees injuries in one season is a big worry for any team. The guy I think of is Dariq Whitehead. He was supposed to be lotto but then his injuries caused him to fall last year. I don't know if Topic would drop to 19, but that is a very tough proposition for a team like Toronto to make. You never know what type of player he will be after. OKC would make a lot of sense since they can afford to take a flyer on the kid.

Ideally, Edey rises up so high that Toronto doesn't have to make a draft call on him. If he rises, someone else falls.

#9, Clarke and Kennard

For

#31, Poeltl

Puts them about $4m under the tax with 3 2nd rd picks to fill roster spots 12-14.

I think any deal with Memphis also needs to address their cap (edit: read TAX) issues.

This is going to be a bigger issue with taxed teams this year because of the second apron. There is going to be some movement of talent that looks a little out of whack. How does Minnesota, with its weird ownership situation, the need to get a backup PG for Conley, etc etc, keep from paying mega-tax, Naz Reid has had a hard time against Joker, so I wonder if he'd be available cheap. Not saying we'd be interested, we need starting talent and he's not, just that some teams are going to be more uncomfortable about their tax situation with the new rules and make moves to adjust.

Better than I expected. Decent size for a small ball C/ PF

I really like Ighodaro, but the lack of shooting just can't possibly work on Toronto. I think he will be pretty successful like Trayce Jackson Davis, but he needs a team of shooters to give him spacing. We already have Poeltl, Olynyk and Barnes playing a similar role. I'd love for Toronto to make it work because I think he has the most underrated passing and defensive skills.

Does it matter? Barnes fits wherever you put him.

Treat him like Joker. Put shooting and Defense around him.

Unless we find a 6'10+ guy who can shoot (and maybe even then), he's definitely a PF in my mind.

Quickley-WING-WING-Barnes-Center

is how I tend to see things. Poeltl for now at center, Barrett for now at one wing spot and the 2025 1st is the other.
