The only S&T that would work package Chandler, Shumpert, Douglas & Balkman about 20 million with 1.25 have $25 million.
Get Gortat 7.2 Nash 9.5, 15, 15 & Childress 6.5 and likely some cash

Why Knicks want Nash
Why Phoenix gets some value and gets rid of Childress
Why I would rather have Dragic/Lowry or Lin

What about this trade?

Raps send Calderon and Ed Davis to Charlotte for G Henderson and Diop

We go into the 2012 season with

Bayless/backup?
Derozan/Ross
Henderson/Fields
Bargs/Amir
Val/Diop/Acy

amnesty kleiza, trade JJ for a backup point or look at a larger package for a starting pg.

The trade works in the tracker... Henderson is fairly underrated in my opinion, putting up good numbers, we know MJ likes his UNC players and Caldy could backup Kemba (you've got to think they are going to trade DJ and go forward with Kemba)

This team would be young and athletic..we'd probably suck for another year but I don't see us making the playoffs this year anyway, not without breaking the bank big time. The team is too young to truly compete.

If Nash is really off the board, I don't want aiming for Lin or Dragic. IMO, those guys are good players in the league, but will not be very different from what we have now in Calderon/Bayless (Lin's case) or will be vastly overvalued (Dragic's case).

Lowry would have been a good option, and if that is still a viable trade option you do it. Otherwise I'd like to see the Raptors put the following players on a priority list (no specific order):

-Tyreke Evans
-Brandon Jennings

And if all else fails, make a huge offer for a big RFA next year in free agency:

-Ty Lawson
-Jeff Teague
-Stephen Curry
-Jrue Holiday

I was gonna post this in the general Raps forum, but I guess this is the place. A little venty but idc.

I have tried to keep my mouth shut until I saw the final picture for BC's plan, but after seeing the Nash fiasco unfold I decided his final picture just got ruined.

The #8 Pick:
Ross will probably be a good NBA player. I don't hate the pick at all but we definitely could have moved the pick in a deal for Lowry, who I really like. Ross creates a nice logjam if..

The Landy Fields signing:
In his first season, he looked like a great glue guy. He could shoot the ball, one of the best rebounding twos in the league, and could do all the little things. Well, all the disappeared. He lost his confidence in his jumper and who knows if it will ever return. I pray that we rescind the offer. Worse then the Kapono signing.

Nash:
Nash is my favourite player ever and thats why I wasn't vomiting when I heard we were going after him. Nash is a 38 year old point guard. Why were we tanking for the last couple years..The chance at Steve Nash? How much can he give you at 38? He will probably need to play around 28-32mpg and how long does he last? A year? Two? We didn't tank for a two year patch job. I don't care how good of a story it would have been, how much money MLSE was about to make, or how I would have loved to see Nash in a Raptors jersey.. I am a Raptors fan first.

So let's say for some reason we give Fields his ridiculous contract.

Calderon/Bayless
Derozan/Ross/Bayless
Fields/Kleiza/Weems
Bargnani/Davis/Acy
Valanciunas/Johnson/

With LA out, the only play for Calderon I see is SA.

Calderon for Jackson

Kleiza is an amnesty candidate, but with Valanciunas here, its a bad decision. (More buddy system Managing, way to go BC!)

Weems should not be matched, idc how good of friends he is with Derozan.

Derozan should be moved before the season starts.. He has more holes in his game then Bargnani. I'd moved Derozan/Davis for a good YOUNG pg we can develop (I love Lowry though).

Resign Gray. Surprisingly he was effective last season and gives us a C to help Val adjust

PG X/Bayless
Ross/Fields(NOOO!)/Bayless
Jackson/Fields(NOOO)/Kleiza
Bargnani/Johnson/Acy
Valanciunas/Gray/Johnson

and continue the rebuild/tank. Val, Ross, and PG X get to develop. We get another high pick.

Some thoughts on people wanting Nash/Retool:
Why? Do you think we can build a contender? Will we really be able to compete with Miami? OKC? LA? No? Then whats the point? I'd rather be on the road to a championship then on a treadmill.

Saw this on a Rockets board

Lowry, Lamb for Calderon, Ross, 2013 1st lottery protected

Would you do it?

Yes, though I'm surprised Houston won't try to unload Martin at the same time.

Martin is an expiring contract, they'd rather unload Scola.

Cut out Ross and Lamb and it's more plausible. I definitely would with the lottery protection. If HOU is looking to save money, what about:

Lowry, Scola for Calderon, Davis, J. Johnson, 2013 lotto protected

This is a bit of a crazy trade idea but I thought i'd try it for kicks (got the idea somewhat from birdii's original 3 team trade):

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=cucaus4

Why for Toronto: Now that all the good PG free agents are off the board, you make a splash and go for Ersan Ilyasova. Since Colangelo knows his job is on the line, he finally comes to reason and includes Bargnani in a nice haul. Ross becomes the real value given up, but this represents the same value needed to lure Lowry away from the Rockets.

Why for Philly: They get rid of Iguodala's contract (abeit a good player) for an equally good scorer in Kevin Martin. He comes on a year shorter contract and allows the Sixers to make a splash in the 2013 free agent class. Also frees up salary so that they can resign Jrue Holiday after the season.

Why for Houston: They get back a future cornerstone for Martin. Since they were shopping Lowry and assumingly uncontent with their long term outlook at the PG, they deal him in a nice haul. Raptors can send their 2013 first as an added incentive. Main issue is that they retain some value should Martin and Lowry both decide to walk (Jennings is a RFA)

Why for Milwaukee This is the only unclear part of the trade, however seems to make sense. Jennings has already said he will test the FA market. That could leave the Bucks with nothing, or having to massively overpay for him back. With Ellis likely around for the next 2 seasons, they get a chance to add a player on the upswing and signed to a reasonable contract if he can maintain his production. Bargnani is still young and has shown flashes of brilliance. With Bargnani, Ellis, M'bah a Moute, Udoh and Udrih, they have a competent starting 5. Andddd, they get to drop Gooden's contract.
---------------------------

After this trade, Raptors amnesty Jose Calderon and sign Ersan Ilyasova. They also re-sign Aaron Gray. Suddenly, things are looking good for the 2013 Raptors:

Lowry/Bayless
Derozan/Bayless/Weems
Iguodala/Fields/JJ
Ilyasova/Gooden/Kleiza
Valanciunas/Amir/Gray

EDIT: Just as I post this, the Raptors agree to acquire Lowry lol, either way any opinions on this trade? :)

Well, back to the drawing board...BC really never ceases to surprise. Even I could not have pictured Lowry being given up that easily! Now we have to make a play for an Iggy/Gay

After signing Lowry...

Would you be interested in Chuck Hayes, Francisco Garcia, or John Salmons and a second rounder for Calderon?

Maybe we toss in Honeycutt, Whiteside,

Take as many as you want....

Any way to do business involving these fellas? Not sure how bad you want to move Jose.

76ers Get: Stephen Jackson, James Johnson, Ed Davis

Spurs Trade: Stephen Jackson

The Raptors should be in the driving seat for this deal. Philly has a lot to gain by getting rid of Iguodala's contract. This allows them to keep their PG situation in check. Since the Spurs were rumored to like Calderon anyway, especially with Tony Parker's situation unknown, this makes sense for everyone.

Lowry/Bayless
Derozan/Ross/Weems
Iguodala/Fields/Kleiza
Bargnani/Davis
Valanciunas/Amir

Getting too many ideas today, don't know if that's a good thing or not. But how's this for a shakeup:

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=76xu4rk

Raptors Trade: Jose Calderon, Demar Derozan, James Johnson, Ed Davis
Raptors Get: Andre Iguodala, Tayshaun Prince

76ers Trade: Andre Iguodala
76ers Get: Demar Derozan, Ed Davis, Will Bynum

Pistons Trade: Tayshaun Prince, Will Bynum
Pistons Get: Jose Calderon, James Johnson

I feel like this makes sense if Iguodala ends up costing us (ie, if they insist on Derozan). We can take a gamble on Prince, who is a good two-way player and hasn't been doing so good in Detroit without a proper PG. Although we tie up our capspace, we get quite a dynamic duo at the 2/3.

Lowry/Bayless
Iguodala/Ross/Weems
Prince/Fields/
Bargnani/Kleiza/Acy
Valanciunas/Johnson

Salary Cap = $47,832,245

-Ross contract goes against the cap by 2.1 million
-Valanciunas contract goes against the cap by 2.8 million
-Acy contract goes against the cap by under 1 million

So that brings us to about 53 million in total salary, however if we amnesty Amir Johnson we would have over $10 million left in capspace for any other free agents.

I want Monte Ellis. I REALLY want the kid on the raptors. Seeing how every position on our team is solidified defensively, we can afford him (if he's undersized).

Return to Toronto Raptors
