Raptors RealGM Mock Draft: The Hornets select...

Post#1 » by vini_vidi_vici » Sat May 29, 2010 12:44 am

*First, sorry Pacer fans, I was using DX's mock for the candidates, Bledsoe wasnt up yet, til now.

Next on the clock is the New Orleans Hornets. This is another team, we'll probably see a few deals from, so I think it could change, but right now ill go with Bradley. A young swing would suit them good. Its surprising to see all the wing players get passed on, one or both of Henry/Bradley will be gone by our pick atleast.

Roster: Chris Paul (G), Darren Collison (G), Emeka Okafor (C), David West (F), James Posey (F), Morris Peterson (G-F), Julian Wright (F), Marcus Thornton (G).

Mock Draft Projections
Donatas Montiejunas - NBADraft.net

Patrick Patterson - DraftExpress.com

Avery Bradley - ESPN.com

(not updated!)Xavier Henry - HoopDoctors
Henry had a good but inconsistent season as he becomes the first KU player ever to be a one-and-done player. Xavier has prototypical size at the 2 guard position and could blossom into a perrennial all-star. Has the ability to score in bunches and will only get better. Could improve handles, is turnover prone, and go from just good to great on defense. Sometimes deferred to upperclassmen at Kansas. Down the line, has potential to be an absolute steal in he draft. Comparison: Joe Johnson

Dont participate then? well by all means enjoy the numerous redundant threads about Hedo/Bosh being moved, and insightful threads as to why Jalen Rose hates us, or Boshs tweets and peoples interpretations.

If you're the Hornets, and you have a chance to pair up Hassan Whiteside with Chris Paul, you take it. You saw what Paul meant for Tyson Chandler, he could do similar things for Whiteside, in terms of easing his transition into the NBA game, especially offensively.

I could also see Xavier Henry with this pick, because the Hornets don't have many reliable wings. What? They're best wing is James Posey - that's a major need for them as well. Marcus Thornton should be coming off the bench as a 6th man IMO. They need a starting calibre wing or two.

Henry or Whiteside.

I think Henry is a good pick here. Hornets could use a wing next to Paul and Paul will bring out the best in Henry.

Donatas. He looks quick enough to maybe play some 3. I think the Hornets can stash him overseas for a couple of years and not have him count against their cap, and then they have a possible replacement for Peja.

I'm not really sure what the Hornets are going to do.

I think Patterson would be the safe pick, and is the most ready to contribute. But at the same time, he duplicates a lot of what David West brings.

Whiteside, Montejunas, Henry, and even Luke Babbitt are all possibilities as well.

Doesn't seem to want to take my vote, which was for Ed Davis. Outside of West, NO has some terrible bigs. Wouldn't be surprised if they packaged this pick with a bad contract to shed some salary though, so it could be anyone if they're picking for another team.
