Ed Davis: no ball-related activities for up to 6 wks(p. 16)

Post#1 » by dagger » Thu Sep 16, 2010 8:13 pm

No word on the what the MRI showed, but there is something to the morning rumor.

Eric Koreen of the Post tweets the following

#Raptors forward Ed Davis tweaked knee during informal scrimmage in Mississauga last night. He is experiencing soreness, undergoing testing.

So stay tuned.

Guess they could've left the other topic open a little longer :P

Doesn't sound too serious, but is this a sign that perhaps guys like Sonny/DD as discussed yesterday, shouldn't be playing around with random people on random courts? A freak injury can occur at any time, but the chances are increased when playing ball in "informal scrimmages". Hope he's ok (my exgf works at Sinai, too bad because I could've gotten her to get us updates...)

How ironic how the importance of these PR related scrimmages were being debated yesterday. This was my one of my very few worries about these public scrimmages. I'm pretty sure he'll have a quick recovery despite not exactly knowing his condition but it doesn't seem too bad.

Might be coincidence, but none of the participants at last night's scrimmage has tweeted about anything today. Ed hasn't tweeted since he asked for a ride from the airport a week ago.

J-Roc discussed the potential for injury yesterday. Boogie! also showed some concern.

I'm not concerned that this happened at a public scrimmage. Could just as easily happen on the Raptors practice court or in a game. Basketball is basketball.

This sure does suck, though. Especially if it results in him "sitting out" portions of training camp or the pre-season. Seems like we never have a full healthy roster after the off-season, which is when you'd think we'd have our guys at their healthiest.

yeah this just as easily couldve happened in a training session at the raptors facility. simply unfortunate. esp for a guy already coming off injury. i take that risk for the benefit of ed being around those guys, building chemistry and their image in the community

[jks] So he's trying to become more like Jermaine O'Neal? [/jks]

But seriously, I hope he's alright!

Hope he gets better soon.

BTW, is it wrong that anytime I hear bad news regarding any of our players a voice in my head says "more ping pong balls"? It's starting to creep me out because obviously I don't want to see our players get injured.

I'd rather our players not injure themselves playing pick-up with randoms in a Mississauga gym, but that's just me.

Why isnt this thread merged with the other one???

Dagger shouldnt have started a new thread. The other one should have been re opened and this should have been a post.

Isnt that how it usually goes?

Dagger posted a tweet confirming it was true and if you read the other thread Donkeypunch says

"There are ramblings he hurt his knee, and was at .mount sinai today getting an mri. Can anyone confirm or deny?"

He wasnt throwing out rumours he was trying to find validity in a statement he heard.

Dagger just confirmed it and the other thread should continue.

Yes, it should creep you out because an injury to a young player early in his development really doesn't get us more ping pong balls, but can be a permanent setback in his development. Ed has already missed time at NC last spring because of a wrist injury. The last thing he needs is another partial season.

I AM VINDICATED!!!!!!

But seriously, hope he recovers quick. Btw, what does "tweak" mean exactly? Just a tight feeling in the knee?

Can't Ed build better chem with the guys while facing more competitive opponents near their level instead? This ultimately leads to improvement in their game and if it shows on the court come Game 1, they wouldn't have to worry too much about their image. Hey, if Pops can capture the heart of the team with a couple dunks....

For some reason tweak sounds worse to me than even a break. A break is an easy fix. 6 weeks sure, but you know how to fix it. A tweak. Does that ever really go away??
