Bargs on pace to make NBA HISTORY: Rebounding

Post#1 » by Too Late Crew » Sat Nov 13, 2010 1:38 pm

I was reading some old articles and came across this one bashing Sheed from his last year with the Celtics. Somthing caught my eye and I just could resist investigating further:

1. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Sheed has the lowest career per-48-minute rebounding average of anyone 6-foot-11 or taller who played 1,000-plus games (9.8).

I always thought of Sheed as far worse a rebounder than he should have been given his skills but didn't get overly worked up about it becuase he was so good on D (when younger) and his teams always seemed to be good rebounding teams.

9.8 rebounds per 48 is the lowest of anyone 6 foot 11 or taller (who played 1000 games) Andrea Bargnani's current per 48 average after 310 games?

7.9! Nearly 2 full rebounds worse than a guy who is termed the worst 6 foot 11 plus rebounder in NBA HISTORY.

BARGS BEST rebounding year was last year..his per 48 minue rate? 8.5!

His CAREER BEST ..his BEST rebounding year is a full rebound worse than the WORST rebounding 6 foot 11 plus player in NBA history.

There you have it folks..we are witnessing history in the making! To underatnd how truly bad it really is this quote hit home..if this is true about Sheed what would we say about a guy who is worse?
Sheed doesn't rebound as much as debound. "Lazy" isn't a strong enough word. He always seems to be standing in the wrong spot. He constantly forgets to box out. His hops are long gone, so balls routinely bounce over his head to opposing players. When matched against a hustler like Anderson Varejao, it's like watching a golden retriever fight off a Rottweiler.

DEBOUNDING..I like that

Wow, he is only trying to pad other's stats, before he had to give the board to Bosh, now if he boards over Reggie, what is Reggie gonna feel good about?

27 points in a win last night. Its tough to hate on that though, eh?

Hey, how about you guys get another hobby instead of making another "Hate on Bargnani for this and that thread" 10 times a bloody day. Or even better, why doesn't a Mod merge these useless threads into one giant "Bargnani hate" thread?

Bargnani is a bad rebounder. We've known this since his 1st year. It's not shocking stuff.

This thread is not about scoring. The thread title clearly states REBOUNDING.

If you did not wish to discuss Bargs and rebounding why even open the thread?

I'd suggest not wasting your valuable time on threads that you clearly don't want to read.

As for Hate I cahllange you to disprove any of the statistcal evidence in this thread.

Todays pappers had a quote about CB rebounding issue in Miami

He feels he is having trouble adjusting on the defensive end of the court, and that's why his rebounding has been poor with Miami.

"I just have to know my role and keep working at it," Bosh said. "Just watch a lot of film and get back in the play sometimes and be able to rebound from where I am instead of just trying to stay under the basket all the time and wait till it comes my way. I have to be aggressive and move a little bit more."

There you have it CB lovers, this is how Bosh had his rebounding numbers increased in the past years...is no rocket science.

Should Bargs take a page from CB "secret" book of rebounding and stop following his man in defense?
Just park under the basket and wait for them to fall your way...would that please you stats followers?

I'm not going to hate on the guy too much here, I mean he did help us get a win last night (although he disappeared in crunch time). But seriously, I wonder how many PGs have better per48 rebounding stats than this guy. It's a very depressing facet of his game...

Bargnani is Toronto's leading scorer and kept us in the game early. Yet some here want to bash him for what he didn't do. Really pathetic.

And to add to that, when Bargs grabs over 10 rebounds in a game it reminds me of when Araujo used to score over 10 points in a game. It truly is a shock and awe experience.

Who is BASHING him based on last nights game?

This is based on CAREER numbers. 100s of games for other players. over 300 for Bargs.

This could have been posted last year, last game or in 6 months it would still be true. Its not like last night's 2 rebound game sparked something that hasn't happened yet this year?

some statistics say that the Raptors RealGM board has the highest "Bash Your Own Players" rate with 5.7 threads per 48 mins.

And in his prime was an aggressive, vocal and intimidating defender all while being a useful offensive weapon. When you do those things, it helps make up for your weaknesses.

I know his primary man last night was Shard who floats on the perimeter even more than Bargs does, but when the shots from other positions went up last night, Bargs would rarely even make it into the paint to help rebound, let alone put a body on someone and go after the board.

I was happy to see DD, Jack and Wright all helping out on the inside, but I can't help but think that should have been Bargs inside.

On the other side of the ball, he made Shard look fairly helpless against him, and Orlando was forced to double Bargs which opened up the floor for DD and Jack in the second half.

exactly. and yet I am reading comments like Bargs poor 2nd half neutralized his good 1st half
SVG seemed like a clueless little child in the 1st half cause Bargs was destroying them and had to adjust his defensive schemes... result: other guys like DD had their open spaces in the 2nd. but again, Bargs doesnt get credit for nothing... still ppl bashing abt his rebounding which EVERYBODY already knows is poor.

edit: those mismatch problems that Bargs is creating are exactly the reason why I am sure he is on whishlists of many GMs... and maybe somebody noticed y'days comments by Jack Armstrong who said that around the league BArgs gets quite some respect.
