I'll start Pt II off with this:

Hasheem Thabeet and Courtney Lee for Leandro Barbosa + future 2nd rounder

* HOU saves 2 yrs on Thabeet and 1 yr on Lee. We acquire decent backups for our C and SG spot.

Bayless/Calderon
Derozan/Lee
Johnson/Klezia
Davis/Johnson
Bargnani/Thabeet

Sorry, Thabeet is not a concept. He's a bigger stiff than the Eiffel Tower. I think we can do better with Barbosa.

Andrea Bargnani, Jerryd Bayless + 3rd pick for Stephen Curry, Andris Biedrins, Dorell Wright.

* Solidify our PG and SF positions. Acquire a below average center in need of a change of scenery with a hefty price tag.

* Combining roster with the trade above:

Curry/Calderon
Derozen/Lee
Wright/Johnson/Klezia
Davis/Johnson
Thabeet/Biedrins

Well, I like that better than your first idea, if only because Curry would be a good option at 1 and Wright an upgrade at 3. However, we'd have to suffer Biedrins for a year until we could draft a C - assuming no one good is coming to us in free agency. People don't realize how much Biedrins' game and confidence have abandoned him. Right now, he's not much more useful than a seventh or eighth man, but when you pay a guy that much you have to give him 30 minutes somehow.

Thabeet and Biedrins together would make us a laughing stock. But at least Thabeet would be a one-year deal.

The only player I really wanna make a big splash for is cousins. Our Pick + Ed Davis + barbosa for their pick + Cousins & fille(Garcia)???r. We end up with the 2nd best C in the East right away. Ino posters will oppose this because Eddy D is the new fan fav in town but from a basketball standpoint, you've got to pull the trigger on this deal. I wouldn't do this deal if we ended up with the #1 pick though. At 2 i'd pull the trigger tho.

I like Cousins, but I wouldn't mind Kanter with a better personality (team player).

If Kanter was a footer or had freakishly long arms i'd be all for him, but I see cousins being way more dominant than he'll ever be able to be.

Cousins + Bargnani = worst defensive frontcourt of alltime. If we can somehow pair Davis with Cousins that would be scary.

I'm sorry I don't see your logic all that well, Ed Davis with Cousins is scary, but bargs with cousins is the worst defence of all time??? Is Ed Davis a multiple DPOY to you?? Is Cousins a Stiff too you, or are you just gonna call bargs the worst defender in the NBA? Theres plenty of cases around the NBA where 1 relatively poor big man defender is still able to make a difference and get the job done for their team. Dirk / Boozer / CB4 / Zbo / Pau Gasol(got it done in the past). I wouldn't even place Bargs as the worst defender in that group.

Well firstly Ed Davis is a gajillion times better than Bargs defensively. And yes I am calling Bargs the worst defender in the NBA lol.

Thabeet has shown nothing on two teams in two very different systems.
With that said I am not overly opposed to adding him solely as ballast, however if we are unloading a Barbo expiring deal, I would expect a pick coming to us, not leaving us.

Ed davis better than bargs on defence... Sure Fine.
Bargs wosrt defender in the NBA lol... No, but hey i'll agree just to agree.

Still replacing one with the other shouldn't bolster you from "worst of all time" to being "scary" while keeping cousins.

With Bargs and Cousins out there, we have something that teams simply will not be able to matchup with on both sides of the ball. Length!!! See 09 lakers

Bargs is one of the worst defenders in the NBA, I thought this was obvious? He's certainly worse than all of the guys you've mentioned there:
Bargs: 115 DRtg, opponent PER (21.1), net PER differential (-4.9),
Dirk: 105 DRtg, opponent PER (15.7), net PER differential (+8.9)
Boozer: 99 DRtg, opponent PER (17.6 at PF, 14.2 at C), net PER (-.9 at PF, +7.8 at C, he split time between the two)
CB4: 103 DRtg, opponent PER (14.5 at PF, 11.7 at C), net PER (+5.4)
ZBo: 105 DRtg, opponent PER (14.6 at PF, 15.4 at C), net PER (+8.4 at PF, +10 at C)
Pau: 103 DRtg, opponent PER (13.5 at PF, 16 at C), net PER (+11.9 at PF, +8.3 at C)

probably not the most thorough way to measure defensive impact, but certainly enough to see that those guys are all better than him on the defensive end, or are at the very least better able to overcome their defensive shortcomings.

You're right my logic was kinda messed up there. This should make more sense:

- Bargs is absolutely garbage defensively. People drive in the lane and he just moves out of the way.
- I think Ed Davis can be an elite defensive power forward
- I'm not quite sure how Cousins is defensively, I remember when we played the Kings he was not that good. So it depends on Cousins...if he is good defensively pairing him with Ed Davis would be beast. Pairing him with Bargnani would pretty much be set up for disaster of epic proportions. So yes saying Ed and Cousins would be a scary defensive frontcourt is premature.

I think you are underrating cousins defensive potential to say that it would be the worst defensive front court of all time.. obviously any frontcourt featuring bargnani will be bad but it wouldnt be the WOAT..

although i agree davis + cousins would be beast..

Edit: You basically agreed with what i said in your above post.

Pau Gasol? Trade Bargs, JJ, Bayless for Pau. We should have the cap to absorb the salary difference. Take Irving and sign Battier and Kurt Thomas!

Irving/Jose
DD/Barbosa
Battier/Kleiza
Amir/Ed
Pau/Thomas

Not the best team in the world but, given proper coaching, this team can play some acceptable D (not gonna be great) and be efficient.

Maybe BC can work some magic again to bring in talent.
