Free JV, Ross and Acy!!

Post#1 » by bonjovi0308 » Thu Feb 28, 2013 4:36 am

I create this thread hoping someone from the organization (BC, Casey?) will take a look at this and understand what does the fan base want. Playoffs or not we all want entertainment and watching our youngsters play is one of them. This season is done and we should now giving more mins to our rookies and see what they can do and for proper evaluation towards next season.

Yeah the best thing you can do with a rookie in a slump is never play them again

You're right, we should spoil our rookies like we've spoiled Bargnani for years. It worked out well. Ross will get playing time when he earns it.

Bargs wasn't spoiled, he's terrible at basketball. He was runner up rookie of the year, "earned his minutes" and he sucked nonetheless.

A team this bad should probably think twice about valuing "discipline" over actual NBA experience when it comes to rookies.

This fool of a coach is wasting away talent on the bench.

Casey is holding our rookies accountable. The highly touted Casey training camp will ready them for next seasons rigors. No panac.

That only works for playoff teams and/or teams with depth. This team has no depth and barely a 9th spot team, we need to let the rookies play through mistakes.

“If we need shooting, if his shot is going, we may have to give him a look, but right now it’s about matchups, it’s about productivity, it’s about experience of being in those situations. If he comes in and has it going, he’ll be in there but if not, we have to go with Alan or Landry.”

Tough conditions for a rookie to play under. The best thing for the future of the team is to lose the next three to five games, get the playoff chase out of their heads and start giving minutes to our young guys. If we made the playoffs and kept our pick, there's almost a 95% chance it would be traded anyway. Pound the rock has now officially turned into "let's get that rock broken already!"

I'm curious how many losses need to mount for management to throw in the towel. Or will they insist on playing vets until mathematically eliminated.

And that's why Doug Smith exists, to answer these tough questions:

Regardless of what you or I think, these guys are not going to give up the ghost of a playoff race yet.

Not sure when the inevitable hits home and the race is over -- six back in 10th with just 24 to go seems an impossible task – but just listening to them in the locker room after the Cleveland game hammers home their continued confidence.

They were disappointed, frustrated and ticked off, of course, but no one was throwing in the towel; not Dwane, not the three of four players I talked to.

And you may say it’s silly to think that way but what you think, or I think, doesn’t really matter. Until it’s over, it’s not over.

So if you’re looking for 30 minutes a night for Terrence Ross or 40 minutes a night for Jonas Valanciunas or 15 minutes a night for Quincy Acy, you’re not going to get it yet.

Please don’t whine, it’s not your decision and until you get Dwane’s job, there’s nothing you can do about it.

So for God's sake, stop whining you people. There's nothing we can do. Just passively accept our fate.

So who's the player that's thrown in the towel? Must read RealGM. Lol.

IDK why Acy is on the bench, he should have been in the D-league all year to hone his skills so that he could be serviceable next year...Ross has been atrocious post Dunk contest, don't want him out there messing with DD's production. FREE JVAL! Man deserves to play in the 4th, he plays with heart and skill for 3 quarters, he deserves his dollar! :D

All over the league, rookies are making real impacts when given real minutes. Is Ross a scrub? I suppose it's possible. But he has shown plenty of flashes of having a legit game at both ends of the floor, yet he can't get on it. Same with Acy for that matter, even if he is a second rounder.

Meanwhile, of the 12 top-scoring rookies, our top prospect in meany years JV is:

- 10th in minutes per game
- 12th in shot attempts per game
- 2nd in FG%
- 3rd in blocks

smh
