Follow up: Raps traded 2013 12th pick for Kyle Lowry

Post#1 » by Raptorfan2012 » Wed May 22, 2013 2:45 am

According Draftexpress, that player is Michael-Carter Williams. I say Raptors did fairly well getting a vet PG in Kyle Lowry, who only a season ago showed all-star potential. Thoughts?

Trade Lowry's expiring for something good and it's worth it, yes.

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

Decent trade but have to remember if we didnt have lowry we would have had a few less wins. Prob 8-12 pick. So its a good trade because of this draft being"weak" We can judge the trade when we see Lowry play a season with out a leash and trying to earn a new contract.

Didn't accomplish anything! I mean, he's due to be re-signed after this year and in no way do i want to commit long-term to him. If the 12th +expiring was the best i could do for Lowry in a trade, i would do it.

Helps a potential tanking process.

I think the assets are comparable this year, but it completely changes with what we do with Lowry if he stays past this year

Too early to tell what player that 12th pick will become, and we haven't reaped any benefits at all (win column-wise) from having Lowry. He could end up just being a 2 year rental for us if he decides to bolt.

Okay, this should be the death blow to any draft lottery conspiracy theories. Anyone care to explain how this one makes any sense?

When this draft isn't looking too promising...I would say this is a good trade.

Kyle is in a contract year, he will be unleashed... Book it.. no more experimenting with Casey.... he's looking for a nice big contract... he'll average 15 points 7 assists and 4 rebounds and 3 steals per game next season.

That's why this new GM needs to trade these guys asap. Lowry and Gay are due for big pay days and they are still good players with decent value right now. Let's stockpile some draft picks and build for a better future alongside Jonas.

There's a lot of way to look at it, but if you just consider the talent that was exchanged, I do this all day errday!

After next year the only question will be can we retain him...

I find the odds incredibly low that the 12th pick in this draft ends up better.

I'll play along since you asked though I don't believe the conspiracy theories.

Here goes:
"They only fix the lottery when the draft is good"
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

one of the Canadians should be picked 12th and pull a bizzaro Steve Francis saying he refuses to report to Tornado alley and forces trade to the country of Canada where things are safer.
