Pass the ball, Hit the open man...

Post#1 » by djsunyc » Sun Dec 1, 2013 9:19 pm

simple concept but our trio has no clue how to do it.

rudy deserves to spend the rest of his career playing in china.
demar is doing his best rudy impression without the defense or rebounding.
and lowry is doing his best raymond felton impression.

dont group everyone into the same category...when demar and lowry get the ball its usually a move to the basket or looking to pass, or taking the shot

but man, gay holds the ball and pounds it and pounds it, crosses and crosses, and just stops any movement

wtf is wrong with this man

Of the three, Gay is the worst and Lowry the best (relatively speaking). Demar isn't usually totally terrible about it but he does occasionally get into that "I'm gonna do this" mindset where he just tunnel-visions en route to a bad J. None of the three are particularly good at it, but Gay is on a whole tier below both Demar and Lowry and really should be spoken of separately. Demar isn't a great playmaker; Rudy is a really, really bad one the way he's played in Toronto.

Big difference.

Yeah, DD and Lowry aren't nearly as bad as Gay. Gay must be the most selfish player in the league

I'd rather just trade all of them, they're all cancers to the team.

I'd like to see one of two things take place:

1) Team is blown up for expiring contracts + picks + young players

2) Raptors add depth/scoring especially from bigs

I could see the team pursue option number two if they hold onto their playoff spot. An example is if Chicago decides to blow it up, the Raptors could offer Lowry + Amir + Fields for Boozer + Hinrich to increase the Bulls cap flexibility this off-season. The Raptors could have a realistic shot at the division title and they wouldn't have to rely heavily on DD and Gay to get buckets.

DeMar can drop dimes in transition. He had that wicked crossover getting into the lane on the secondary break and finding Lowry on the weakside wing for a 3.

Otherwise Rudy and DeMar can't pass in the half-court. I see them dribbling with their head down a lot so they miss out on cutters and open shooters. When they do make the pass it's always a second late that they recognize someone is open whipping the ball too high above the head or too low at the ankles that the receiver can't score/execute immediately on the catch and the entire play has to reset.

Lowry's more of a passer where he needs to probe the defense with his dribble and once he gets the defense to scramble he prefers to find cutters with the bounce pass. Only thing I don't like about that is he does this in traffic a lot and bounce passes are easily deflected or stolen with active hands.

Talk about awful, defensively.

It's still a better overall team than what they have now. Gay would probably hog the ball less if he had a big man who could score in the paint.

Lowry and Demar, are not that bad. Rudy is on another level, this guy thinks he MJ/Kobe all in one.

without defence and rebounding, have you not seen that stats on demar's rebounds the past few games, hes been avgin around 5-6 rpg, with at least 2-3 assists. Also, his defence is well improved.
