Kudos to TSN

Post#1 » by GED Education » Tue Apr 22, 2014 11:02 pm

They easily could have put the Raptors vs Nets on TSN2 in favor of the Bruins/Wings NHL game, which would get better TV ratings, but they finally realize that they MUST promote this team going forward as it's going to be one of the future assets they have with hockey gone for 12 years......

They made a tough choice and good one. Kudos.

With NHL solely on SN next year, I hope Raptors coverage increases on TSN

There will still be NHL on TSN. They just can't broadcast NHL games nationally.

I don't know about that. They have to pander to Canada largest market, especially now after losing national hockey rights. I'll be very curious to see the numbers head to head against the Montreal/ Blue Jays game.

Too bad the NBA doesn't realize that. Here's the lovely headline titling tonights game on NBA League pass:

We have home court advantage, we're the atlantic division champs, we're going into our second game, and WE'RE trying to SNATCH one AWAY from them???????

Basketball's growing, what is it, like the most participated sport in Canada behind soccer? To play hockey you need to spend thousands of dollars, NBA might possibly shorten the gap dramatically in the next decade.

It's important to give props to TSN. A lot of people thought they would bump the Raptors for hockey. But they sacrificed ratings for the good of the team.

Yeah agree 100%. This wasn't a ratings thing. Bruins vs. Wings would get huge ratings for TSN - two big marquee teams. Important game 3 in Detroit.

TSN in these situations wants to put up the best possible show for good ratings vs. the Habs games and to a lesser extent, the Jays...

This was a decision to build the fan base. This might be a Tim L / MLSE thing.....treat us better for the sake of the team, and for you guys too in the next 12 years.

Nope F U TSN

Only way to make me think otherwise is if all Raptor games next year are on TSN or Sportsnet and not TSN2 or Sportsnet1

Doesn't that give the Raptors an advantage in terms of viewership

I'm a huge Flyers fan as well and it's been pretty funny to see the reaction online of Canadian Flyers fans whining about the Flyers-Rangers game being bumped to Sportsnet 360. Welcome to the life of a basketball fan in Canada.

This reminds me of that famous Chris Rock skit...."dude, you're supposed be broadcasting Raptor games!"
