I think they'd want Ppat more than Amir.

PPat + Ross + Hayes + NYK-DEN 1st + 2015 1st + rights to Deandre Daniels
for
Carrol + Horford

Fields + future 2nd to PHI

JV/Amir/Stiemsma/Bebe
Horford/Hans/JJ
JJ/Carrol/Caboclo
DD/Lou/Hamilton
Lowry/Vasquez/Cherry

Antic/Hayes/Muscala
Milsap/PPat/Payne
Ross/Scott
Korver/Sefolosha
Teague/Mack/Schroeder

i really like this trade proposal. ross would look good for ATL. korver is more of a SF with size and above average defense. if ATL locks down milsap long term, there would be a log jam at PF where Horford prefers to play at PF. horford would be great along with JV. it leaves the SF open for a star to complete the lineup (Durant sweepstakes here we come!)

Roughly how much cap space would we still have? If the goal is to create a lineup that would surround Durant with talent, then this one certainly qualifies. I don't know if we would have max money for him, however, after all players are extended.

If we don't sign anyone for long-term contract. We will have only 5 players from our current roster on payroll in 2016 + pick from 2016.

Kyle Lowry $12,000,000
DeMar DeRozan $10,100,000
Jonas Valanciunas $6,179,799 (QO)
Lucas Nogueira $1,921,320
Bruno Caboclo $1,589,640
(2016 pick) $1,400,000

Total : $33,190,759

If the salary cap increase by 7.5% like last year, Salary cap for 2016 will be at about $73 million. Raptors will have about 40 million to sign Durant and Horford.

Isnt that last year of DeRozan's deal a player option? We should be mindful of him opting out for a larger deal, especially with guys like Parsons and Hayward making $4-5M more per year than him.

That's true, I thought it was a team option (color blind). So, about $35 M to sign both Durant and Horford. I'm not sure if that's possible.

There was an article last month, where they estimated that salary cap will be around $84 M after the TV deal for 2016-17. That gives us $10 M more.

FYI, yes, DD will have a cap hold of 15M+. Ross will also be on there if we re-sign him. JV will be a lot more than his QO (his cap hold is 11M+).

For the price they paid to get him and PP this is a rough return (especially if you consider the 1st they traded to Portland originally to obtain Crash, who was then traded to the Celts. The pick later turned out to be Lilliard). I think for they reason alone they pass on a deal like this.

Now the thing is, value-wise it's not far from a fair trade. KG doesn't have a ton left in the tank, his value must be pretty low. That said, I don't think I'd do this deal even if it were offered. I'd rather trade Chuck and Fields for McGee, at least he provides shot blocking and lane intimidation. All KG provides nowadays is fake toughness.

As per WireTap, we need to get Taj Gibson here if he wants out of a back-up role. I really like his fit with Jonas and he is an underrated scorer.

Standing Pat as in PPat is a no brainier. The guy might actually have more ceiling in his development. It might even be possible to see PPat starting and Amir as JV's and PPat's back-up. You want Amir talking to JJ and keep him focused. You need a second unit that gets stops.

First unit.
KL, DD, Ross, PPat, JV
Second unit

GV, Lou, JJ, Amir, Bro/Steamer depending on opponent.

Can't wait to see how JJ and Hansbrough line up against league's tough guys.

This is what I would like to see happen. Amir had a rough second half to the season with injuries last year, so it would be nice to reduce his minutes a bit, while having someone on the second unit to, hopefully, keep JJ from playing hero ball.

You're forgetting that even though the cap might go up, that just means Durant's cost will go up since max contracts are tied directly to the cap. Durant will be able to sign for 30% of the cap. If the cap was $80million, that means his salary can start at $24million. We'll probably have other players sign by then, and DeRozan's cost will also go up. I don't think there's a plausible way for us to get 2 max (near max in the case of Horford) players.

As fans, I think we need to tamper our expectations of Durant coming here. It's ridiculous, and quite a long shot.

Agreed with the last part, but hey we're Raptor fans....all we've ever had is hope.

To me it seems the stars are aligning for him to head home to Washington. At the same time I think it's a great idea to at least put yourself in the position cap-wise, and perhaps be in the conversation. We all know his ties to the VC Raps, Drake, etc. And if there's any guy who I believe can pull it off it's Masai.

Still it's a long-shot and certainly not something you can plan with any amount of certainty. But like this past draft, the tankers didn't just go after one big fish. Other guys like Batum or Horford would look real nice here, and the list of potential free agents doesn't end there.

Keep hope alive for KD in my books, and do what we can as an organization to persuade him here. If not, there's many other options that we can chase to help take this team to the next level.

As of now, i'm content with the roster.
Lowry/Vasquez
Demar/lou
Ross/jj
Amir/ppat
JV/stien

Thats a solid lineup which could probably take us into the 2nd round. We should keep the expirings for the offseason FAs. 2016 is still a pipedream for us.

I rather throw my money at Kawhi Leonard and try to find a solid player at the 4 spot. We all love Kevin Durant, but I think getting Leonard and a star 4 will probably propel our team to at least ECF level.
