I am 6'4", 170 and eat 4000 a day. I do NOWHERE near the cardio an NBA player does, and that 4000 is barely putting weight on me. There's a difference between 6000 calories of good food, and 6000 calories of garbage. Just like there's a difference between fat guys on their computers and NBA players.

I highly doubt you eat even close to 4000. I'm 6'2 205 lbs and I bulk on 3000 calories. (this is eating super clean) I used be 125 lbs and really skinny 6 years ago.

The only people that eat 4000 calories (clean) are athletes at least 250 lbs+ and even bodybuilders around my size only bulk on 3500.

It's obvious Bruno exaggerated 6000 calories, even eating junk and fast food he's nowhere near that. I know he's burning calories working out everyday, but I hit the gym 5 times a week, bike a few times a week and play ball once or twice a week so he can easily bulk on 3000 calories considering how skinny he is.

edit: Phelps exaggerated how much calories he was getting years back also.

It's not excessive for an skinny ectomorph near 7'0 athlete.

Michael Phelps was on a 12000+ calories per day diet back in his prime days.

That's twice more than Bruno.

He probably gradually worked up to 6000 calories. Usually when you start bulking you want to eat 0.8x your body weight in pounds for protein. Then 0.45xBW for fats. Then you play around with your carbs a bit. In Bruno's case he can get away with eating maybe +100 extra fats and 600-800+ carbs. With 100 fats he would be eating 900 calories and 800 carbs be 3200 calories. Then I'd assume about 200 protein for 800 calories. That means he would still be short cos that's only 4900 calories... I wish I could bulk on that much. It's insane.

I was an extreme ectomorph at 6'2 125 lbs I was there and I know how brutal a metabolism works, but he'd be putting near 1 lbs of FAT (not muscle) a day if he were eating 6k calories daily.

I spend almost as much on groceries as I do on rent. It's kind of gross.

Where did you come up with that research? :noway: Stop making random claims it's really annoying. I know several people that bulk on 4000+ calories, if someone wanted to they easily could. Look up reverse dieting, it's not out of this world to be lean bulking on 6000 calories.

I've been bodybuilding for 6 years, and been eating clean for 6 years. I know people can bulk on 4k calories. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone under 225 lbs though.

You wouldn't be "clean bulking" anymore and putting on unnecessary fat if you eat 500+ calories over your maintence. For someone to be 170 lbs and eating 4k calories is either a) not calculating their calorie intake properly or b) dirty bulking. Dirty bulking is the easy way out to overeat and put on weight fast (majority of it would be fat). Thus would be counter-productive in the long run.

and also early stages of diabetes.

Leave out the ice cream and there shouldn't be much sugar there to cause diabetes. Unless I'm missing something.

Even with the ice cream, it's not enough to cause diabetes, since that energy is being used up.

The Raptors trainers, it's either the asian guy or Scott McCullough, have been horrendous with their bulking plans.
Bargnani became fat and slower, Gay became fat and slower and a chucker...likewise with Jonas.
It could be the same story here, sure Bruno will step on the scale higher - but it's not muscle, it's all fat. The fat won't help him match up in the post, won't prevent injury or make him explosive.
I'm not even a trainer, I just read google. Really question the trainers on this stuff here...

That picture has some camera tricks in it. Embiid is not that big.
