Consensus EC Standings Poll - 5th Seed
Continuing on with the RealGM Raptors board "Summer Forecast". Washington joins Cleveland, Chicago, and Toronto in the top as the fourth seed, on to the rest now.
I think we can all agree that Orlando, Boston, Philly, and Milwaukee are tanking this season and have no interest in the playoffs. So I put them all under the tag of "others".
Pollings for each playoff spot will last for 2 days. This should give us a good picture of what the Raptor masses here at RealGM think. Feel free to discuss who you voted for and why.
RealGM Eastern Conference Standings Predictions:
1- Cleveland Cavaliers (53%)
2- Chicago Bulls (58%)
3- Toronto Raptors (83%)
4- Washington Wizards (50%)
5-
6-
7-
8-

Re: Consensus EC Standings Poll - 5th Seed
I chose Miami once again and I think they have a shot to take the division from the Wizards. The only challengers at this point are Atlanta and Charlotte. Detroit and NY are not going to compete for anything higher than the 7-8 seeds.
Brooklyn have a lot of question marks. Will Lopez come back 100%? Will KG have any impact at all? Does Brooklyn have enough after losing Livingston and Pierce? Is D-Will's knees functioning properly? it won't surprise me seeing them crash and fall out of the playoff picture.

Hornets are better than the Heat but worse than the Wizards.

Atlanta gets Horford back and have a great coach. People forget that Atlanta was a few brainfarts away from beating Indy in game 6. They have lots of shooters and two good interior players.

Re: Consensus EC Standings Poll - 5th Seed
For the people voting Miami, answer one question for me....
When Wade is injured or too worn down (which he will be much of the time) who is going to create their offense for them. You think this is the same Bosh you can keep throwing it in to in the mid/high post from his Raptor days? They have weak offensive creators, no rim protection and no quality depth. I just don't get people believing in them unless it's an anti-Lebron thing, or a pro-Bosh thing. If Wade isn't unexpectedly healthy, there's a decent chance they miss the playoffs.
Charlotte or maybe Atlanta should be dwarfing them in votes.

Charlotte for me.
Life without Lebron is going to be too much for Miami. It looks good on paper, but for some reason I see players breaking down trying to substitute what Lebron brought. Their team is also a whole lot older than I realised.
Deng - 29
Bosh - 30
Granger - 31
Wade - 32 (body - 52)
Haslem - 34
Anderson - 36
Miami is two years away from being two years away from irrelevancy.

I like ATL, @Jonny I think MIAs ball movement will be pretty incredible, as Bosh/McRoberts might be the best passing big man tandem in the L (perhaps ever? thats prob abit of hyperbole without putting much thought in it).
But I had CHA winning the division, so they are the pick for me. Too much D, alot of creators for a lackluster O, but they play a high variance game offensively IMO.

I'm assuming that the people who chose Miami are expecting wade to be healthy

Re: Consensus EC Standings Poll - 5th Seed
I think we're underrating what a (supposedly) healthy Lopez, Iso Joe and a (supposedly healthier) D-Will can do, with coach Hollins. I honestly think that they can challenge us for the division title. These should be enough for an over .500 record.
And I think people are overrating the Heat, because of their perception. Yeah, they've been so successful in the past years that people can't instantly envision them being mediocre. Also they still have some marquee names on their roster. But they've lost LeBron **** James. Think about that for a second. Think about the struggle he had in the finals when literally no one else on the team could do anything. Was that still a good team that was around LeBron? Does Wade still really have what it takes to shoulder a team? How much will adding McRoberts, Deng and the corpse of Granger help? Why do people seem to think that Deng is a great two way player when in reality he's been mediocre offensively through his whole career? So many questions. The only things I think they have going is i. their coach Spo (who's very underrated IMO) who, I believe, will come up with good plays offensively, even if they'll have issues with literally everything, from spacing to playmaking to health, and ii. a healthy, happy, -hopefully- motivated Chris Bosh.

Everyone saw what they could do early in the season. Lopez slows everything down and makes it harder for JoeJ and DWill to score while hurting defensively. Without Livingston and Pierce they aren't very good.

You seem to be forgetting that they won 49 games the year before with the same core, and with Wallace and Evans to even worsen the spacing. It worked, and I see no reason why it wouldn't work this year, as long as Williams is healthier.
