Rondo has been able to get away with having the worst shooting ability amongst point guards for this long just because he was so talented at every other aspect of the game. With his declining athleticism his limitations are being exacerbated. It's not like he's declined by that much, but it's tapered off to the point where his overwhelming talent and athleticism can no longer compensate for his lack of shooting.

Unless Rondo gets back to where he was before, Rondo is damaged goods.

What about Dallas? They're very much in a 'win now' mode and do have some assets to move.

Boston receives: Jae Crowder, Gal Mekel, Raymond Felton, Brandon Wright and a 1st Rounder.
Dallas receives: Rajon Rondo

Two young prospects, an expiring and Felton's 2 years which expire alongside Wallace, Green and Bogans.
Dallas immediately jumps up into contenders in my opinion.

Indiana should be thinking about whether they can get Rondo and build themselves back into contention by the time next year starts.

Rondo + George is a good foundation for a very scrappy defensive team (as Indy has been) that can also score (which they've never done well).

To Phx : B Wright + Crowder or Ledo + Felton + 2 Dallas 1st + 1 Boston pick

To Dallas : Rondo + Bass

Phx gets 3 picks + young prospects / expiring.

Boston gets a new younger PG with stud potential. They give up a pick for removing bass.

Dallas gets their star PG and a big in bass to replace wright. Bass blew up in Dallas the first time.

I like the trade but the celtics might as well trade smart.

With Houston's fascination for a Big 3, I can see them, at least, kick the tires on a Rondo deal. Too bad they didn't match Chandler Parson's deal because Parsons/Beverly/1st round pick for Rondo would have been an interesting package.
