It'll be an interesting summer, thats for sure. After we re-sign Amir (i dont see him walking) we'll have 8-10 mill in cap space. Don't think Gasol is too realistic, but there are some near elite level role players out there that would make us a lot better (Danny Green is in my wishlist, such an underrated defender...poor mans Klay Thompson, imo).

If JV loses his bulk we can move him to PF

First rule of Raptor Rumours in the Ujiri era...

Any rumour will result in something of the exact opposite happening.

MU has one of the strictest No leaking rumours to anyone in the league.. which is the stark opposite of the BC era, which he said "Speak to them fine, no specific names, and be nice to the media"

The team personnel have severe penalties for any leaking of team intentions. So know if anything raps related comes out... its from other teams or agents.

NOTHING comes out of the Raps front office... not one thing.

Yeah, I don't see the point in going after Gasol. Unless you could sign Gasol in FA, and then turn around and flip Val to Atlanta for Horford and switch fully to win now mode.

You'd also then have to flip Ross and probably the NYK/Den pick to someone for an upgrade at the three and roll with something like:

Gasol
Horford
[upgraded SF]
DeRozan
Lowry

That's a solid, solid team, but I don't think it's a championship team.

That's a team with 4 all-stars, why would we need to flip Ross for someone?
There's more all-around talent on that roster than the championship Spurs.

I think that talent is comparable to the Warriors.

I agree with our office being tight-lipped, but there are certain fits that people can guess at that could make sense. If I were to guess about a free agent target next year, I would say Tobias Harris makes sense looking at the way Masai builds.

Tobias is a young player at 22 who has improved very year and can play a full time SF role. Jeff Weltman helped to scout and draft him in Milwaukee so they probably feel comfortable about his work personality. He would be the guy we make a significant offer to because he fits the youth of the team, plus he still offers a huge development possibility. Imagine Harris in Casey's defensive system? He could be an all-star for us in a couple years if we managed him well.

Orlando doesn't want anything from Toronto. They are 2-3 deep with guys fighting for playing time.

we have to keep working and thrive in the playoffs, and of course, as bad as it sounds, wait for Gasol to lose in first or second round... Hope Masai offers him the world in the offseason =)

just imagine if we made a super duper move in the offseason to shed capspace and get both Gasol and Aldridge

Lowry
Ross
JJ
Aldridge
Gasol

championship team

It's not happening. Gasol is nearing 30 while 3 of our starters are under 25. Makes no kind of sense at all

I wonder how accurate this big rumor was this season?

Doesn't seem like the team is internally high on Val at all and I have a bad feeling Ujiri will want to tinker with
this terrible core. All the good SF's are RFA's and most likely to be resigned by their teams.

Since the front court has been humiliating this series adding a big man might be their route and this article by
that turd Kelly might be accurate.

Even if we are high on Val, you don't pass up on a player like Gasol.

But why would Gasol leave the Grizzlies? He is in a great situation competitively.

The question Raptor fans need to ask themselves whenever we hear these rumours is this: "Why would a star player leave a good situation to come to worthless Toronto?"

Marc Gasol is indeed special, but he is 30 years old...

Yeah, I don't think it's smart to trade a 25 year old Derozan and a 22 JV (flaws and all for both) for a 30 year old Marc Gasol, who would come to our team with no supporting cast.

There are three big "ifs" to satisfy here.

1) If Marc Gasol wants to leave Memphis
2) If Toronto is the most desirable destination
3) If Toronto can clear max cap space

I don't see it happening.
