i agree with people complaining about everything but can you please use some logic and explain to me what's the point of replacing a scoreboard with something that looks nearly identical to the old one.

This is the new wave of scoreboards. Obviously MLSE goes out and buys the scoreboard everyone else is getting rid of

That's horrible, though. It interferes with people looking at the product on the floor. The MSG one - which I've seen in person - is beautiful and in proper proportion, so I'm glad we seem to be going by that model. Bigger isn't always better.

Look how big the new faces are compared to the Air Canada circle at the bottom, and compare to the old faces. The old faces were maybe 25% bigger than the diameter of the circle, while the new faces are more than double the width of the old ones. Double width X double height = 4 times the viewing surface of the old ones... these screens you pay by the square foot.
1) They've vastly larger
2) They have a convex shape
3) The new angled screens added underneath pointed to ice/court/sidelines
3) They likely have a much higher brightness and resolution. It's like going from 480x640 to 1080p
We're getting new scoreboards (probably a $7-8 mil investment), a new practice facility (reportedly a $30 mil investment) as well as a new DLeague team right in the GTA (expansion fee $6 mil + other costs = easy $10 mil investment), we're hosting the All-Star game this year (likely to the tune of a $10 mil operating loss)... and you clowns can't find any way to make a comment that doesn't somehow make MLSE look like they're taking shortcuts or being cheap. Wah, wah, wah.

The MSG scoreboard is way bigger than the one in the pictures. That looks more like the barclays center scoreboard or the old cavs scoreboard
