Why doesn't anyone listen to me? lol.... I told you guys that it was going to be slightly bigger than the old one, and not to get hyped about it....

Hate to say it, but I told you so.

This is the new wave of scoreboards. Obviously MLSE goes out and buys the scoreboard everyone else is getting rid of

i agree with people complaining about everything but can you please use some logic and explain to me what's the point of replacing a scoreboard with something that looks nearly identical to the old one.

Why does it matter in the least bit? And its not nearly identical.

That's horrible, though. It interferes with people looking at the product on the floor. The MSG one - which I've seen in person - is beautiful and in proper proportion, so I'm glad we seem to be going by that model. Bigger isn't always better.

Agreed.I was in the standing room section for Game 7 vs BKN last year and if we had a giant Cowboys Stadium scoreboard I wouldn't have been able to see a thing. People just like to **** on everything.

Actually, no. It doesn't look anything like the old one, and MLSE isn't being cheap.

Image

Image

Look how big the new faces are compared to the Air Canada circle at the bottom, and compare to the old faces. The old faces were maybe 25% bigger than the diameter of the circle, while the new faces are more than double the width of the old ones. Double width X double height = 4 times the viewing surface of the old ones... these screens you pay by the square foot.

1) They've vastly larger
2) They have a convex shape
3) The new angled screens added underneath pointed to ice/court/sidelines
3) They likely have a much higher brightness and resolution. It's like going from 480x640 to 1080p

We're getting new scoreboards (probably a $7-8 mil investment), a new practice facility (reportedly a $30 mil investment) as well as a new DLeague team right in the GTA (expansion fee $6 mil + other costs = easy $10 mil investment), we're hosting the All-Star game this year (likely to the tune of a $10 mil operating loss)... and you clowns can't find any way to make a comment that doesn't somehow make MLSE look like they're taking shortcuts or being cheap. Wah, wah, wah.

I heard we're also getting a new Maple Leaf Square/Jurassic Park screen.

The MSG scoreboard is way bigger than the one in the pictures. That looks more like the barclays center scoreboard or the old cavs scoreboard

I was in NYC in December 2012 and saw a Knicks/Nets game. The scoreboard looked like the one in the pics previously posted. Even if bigger than those, no way was it that gargantuan rectangle covering 3/4 of the court. It was square and proportionate to the new MSG seating. I'll see if I can dig up some photos. Did they change the scoreboard since 2012?

Why does it matter anyway? When I'm going to a game I usually have no intention on watching it on a screen, regardless of its diameters.
