He tried the whole draft thing, and it didn't work out, so he went all in. It turned the Jays into a popular team this whole country got behind. But, once he left, the Jays went after a GM who wants to build through the draft again, so he doesn't sign guys to big contracts and IMO seems satisfied with the Jays sucking - infact he seems to have put this team down a path where they can do nothing but lose. The only reason the Jays are so bad again, is because the new regime decided not to continue and build on what Anthopoulos left behind, and instead decided to go back to the drafting method again.

It probably comes down to Rogers wanting the Jays to stay cheap, so they hired a GM who will follow what they they want.

I don't know how to respond to this without being overly harsh, but Jesus, this is a brutal post. It's like every "hot take" you can imagine about shapiro/atkins condensed into one paragraph.

Were they satisfied with the Jays sucking last year when they made the ALCS largely due to their pitching staff anchored by two pitchers they signed that off-season (Estrada and happ)?

How exactly would AA have "continued to build on" that team any better than these guys have? Somehow convinced Rogers to overpay Price by 50 million like Boston did (a contract that is looking worse by the day btw)?

No doubt it's been a **** start to the year, but most experts had the Jays as a favourite for a wild card spot coming into the season. Again, not sure what you think AA would be doing any better considering the state of the farm system when he left.

as of right now, they do. id put oilers close simply bc mcdavid is not-human.

next year they can make some serious noise with guys having this experince under their belt. freddy needs help tho, we cant expect this greatness outta him all the time, he was just on freaking fire

I honestly think the Oilers will always be a step above because McDavid is the best already. That's the one thing about the Leafs....they are going to be REALLY good, but can they be able to beat teams as the NHL has a lot of stars now.

They're the oldest team in baseball. They lost a key piece in the offseason. They have a number of injuries.

Basically, at their age and current production, getting back to contention after another slow start is extremely unlikely.

The Jays losing Edwin and getting Morales is a perfect example of why numbers don't tell the story. Several posters here have stated that "well it's not Morales because he has better numbers than Encarnacion so far." but Edwin's role on the team was more significant than just as a slugger. He was like the heart and soul of the batting lineup for years.

Also expecting two pitchers to do as well as they did last year (Sanchez and Happ who were both huge surprises for the most part) to duplicate cy young worthy seasons is stupid.

Heart and soul of a lineup? LOL. That doesn't exist.

I knew your trash number crunching face would be all over that. I'm sure you're of the camp that managers have no bearing on results in baseball either.
