Or one of the two teams that make the NBA finals will win the majority of the cups and other than those teams' fans, not many will care.

There will be scenarios where teams that win the mid season cup choke in the finals and vice versa. Some years injuries will lead to two different champions. There will likely be a team that wins a bunch of mid season cups but not any finals championships which will lead to debate and discussion about teams and players and their legacy, etc. There are so many scenarios and people in the future will value it more than we do.

Man City won't treat a certain competition the same as Everton. In league cups, a lot of the big teams won't play their best lineups until closer to the end whereas many of the smaller clubs are playing very hard from the start.

Yep, most top shelf teams in soccer couldn't care less about the FA Cup (EPL), Copa Del Rey (LaLiga), etc..... it's league and Champions League or bust... a cavaet being having a chance at a treble.

As much fun as a Champions League for basketball would be, Euro League still has a ways to go to be viable competition.

Maccabi Tel Aviv 105 - Toronto Raptors 103 F (2005) aside. :D

I have tickets for the Mavs @ Real Madrid.... I hope the Mavs at least try... I'm sure Luka will put on a show being "home".

Maybe with the obvious improvement in European basketball shown in the FIBA tournament, having some Euro league teams in the NBA tournament might work after all.
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

Feel like they should change the name from "In-season tournament" to something that doesn't say that. Make it have it's own brand. I'm sold on the idea though, I think its great.

They should invite the top 2 teams from the previous G-League season.

Might as well emulate the Euro soccer league models and have an open tourney.

What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

I believe it is just gold to match the in season tournament branding. Nothing to do with OVO

Lol what? The colors are definitely purposeful even without the gold for the trophies. So drab and boring regardless.

Every single court has the gold in the center logo, and the paint.

Considering we have gold city jerseys (which is my guess is the only thing worn during the tourney games) this makes a lot of sense.

So like the Celtics and Lakers for the onset of the NBA?
