The 905 only have 10 games left in their schedule. So if Nowell was injured, and they didn't think he was going to be in their plans next year, it makes sense that they'd let him go and keep someone else from getting poached by another team as they get into that time of year when teams are signing players to those non-guaranteed two-year contracts to bring them to training camp next season.

Yeah, as great as it would be for him to make it, it just wasn't realistic. I had no issues with hearing people say they hope he works out, but there were far too many people that thought he was a shoe in to play in the league, or how he was going to be our version of Isaiah Thomas, all despite the fact that he can't shoot, and his creation abilities were getting stuffed by summer league players just from sheer size alone.

Kudos to him making it this far, but there's a reason why the NBA has less than 10 players in the entire league history playing significant time, at similar heights.

I think the proclamation is the type of irrational confidence you need if you're 5'7 and trying to make the NBA. I know Fred isn't 5'7, but I'm sure he was written off for being small his whole career. Best of luck to Nowell. Might find his calling overseas.

It is too bad he got hurt. He hurt his hamstring and I don't think he came back. He even had an "Up Next" call up and missed out. I think they might consider again next year, but they honestly need bodies for the last part of the Raptors season.

Meh. Guys like Nowell need all the cards to fall in the right order to get a real shot in NBA. Wasn't a bad draft pick, he definitely has skills, but with current roster construction, he doesn't fit. Bigger guards who can defend and hit the 3 should be our priority for pairing with Scottie, Quick and RJ.
