Banton last night vs Knicks , 42 minutes, 16 2 2. Second leading scorer. Only saw highlights, looked pretty good in transition.

Wonder why Boston gave up Banton for a top 55 protected pick.

No idea. Financial reasons? They have too much talent already? Giving him a chance to play on a team where he can get minutes? I don't know, I just hope the Rexdale kid is able to extend hi career.

Aren’t the Celtics a team with like a very strong 7 man rotation then a significant drop off after that? Guys like Quetas, Tillman, Hauser, Pritchard and even Brissett have managed to get minutes there. If Banton is so good then it’s very strange that he wouldn’t fit in their rotation and that the best offer on the table for him would be a top 55 protected pick.

I hope he can have a career as well. He does have some intriguing skills but the league doesn’t seem to be that interested in trying to develop them.

That stat line is kind of awful for 42 min lol. He’s just an end of bench guy getting mins for a franchise that’s playing for ping pong balls

I always thought he was better off going to Europe/overseas to develop his skills and dominate there. Then try an nba comeback years later like a Pat Bev, PJ Tucker, AP, etc. No nba team is going to take the time to properly develop him cuz the ceiling isn’t high enough to invest in

I'm watching him play Pels right now. Two nice baskets and a good lob to Ayton, early on. I get what you and Los 29 are saying, but maybe Portland could be the team where he develops rather than Europe. I imagine the big thing would be if he can shoot 3s consistently the way he did vs Raptors then he has a real chance.

I'm not saying I know that he'll make it or not but I'm enjoying watching him now

Not to belabor this, though I guess I am. Dalano has 28 with 6 minutes to go in the third. Blazers hanging with Pelicans. New Orleans announcers talking about how it's better to be playing as he is now than riding the pine for a ring in Boston. They're impressed with his play

I was never high on Banton's potential but it's fair to say he never really got a consistent opportunity here. Portland giving him a shot to see what he can do.

Hm, since I posted he had 28 with 6 left in the third, he didn't score again. Still led the team in scoring, more than Simons and Ayton. But Pels pulled away to win handily. Portland missing Brogdon Sharpe Thybulle and Grant. Full on tank mode

Edit - 4/8 from three, 10/19 overall

Well, he's scoring more than Gradey, in the same situation.

I always remember his game last season against the Pistons when Fred was out. Dalano was knocking down 3s and just dominating the game. I never understood why Nurse refused to play him much after that. It was one of many puzzling Nick moves that year.

Only two points but still huge impact. Sealed the game with a stop on Sabonis causing a double dribble, then a block on Fox next time down.

OG had been a plus in every single game he has played for the Knicks. Crazy how impactful he is. Very underrated player while he was here by those who love the offensive jumpshooting combo-guard.

Five years already, doesn't seem so long since there was some talk of him replacing Casey. I'm guessing he'll come back to the NBA. Probably have to be an assistant again before becoming a head coach.

I'm not a stats guy but I assume this is good.

Really liking what we're getting from Quickley and Barrett too. Good trade for both teams. I always liked OG even more than Bridges but it was clear he wasn't returning. All those teams who weren't willing to give what the Knicks gave up really missed out.
