He can be a bench defensive guy. His offseason shooting improvement or not, will determine his future impact.

Agbaji isn’t a starter

But he can be useful off the bench as a defensive stopper. He’s a situational player

His offence should be corner 3 and cuts…that’s it

There is always a chance the 28th pick becomes something but the overall odds are it doesn’t

If he can stick to what he excels in, no reason he shouldn’t be 9th/10th man. For a team lacking in talent, that isn’t something to take for granted.

Next season will ultimately tell us whether he'll stick or not. Think he can be fine in a bench role as a 3+D sort, but he's gotta be able to knock down his 3s at a good clip.

let's not get fancy with him. He needs to stick with shooting corner 3's and keep it simple. I hope we dno't make the same mistake and ask him to try to do too much

He's shooting .258 from three for us.

Agbaji is almost 24. Surely you can make a better comparison than that?

The same Banton that is on his third team in 3 years? The same Banton that is only looking marginally good, because he's playing on one of the worst teams in the league, a team actively and blatantly tanking?

The same Banton that was traded by 2 teams who are apparently some of the best in evaluating talent? Bargs was great for a few weeks too, maybe we should take victory laps there.

Ochai is a 4 year college player in his second year in the NBA.

36% and 26% are some of the worst numbers I have ever seen. He better be an absolute lockdown defender.

Over 12 games…unless I’m missing something here

He’s in a slump. He has a new opportunity and he’s trying to do too much or the coach isn’t putting him a position to be his best.

Corner 3s. Cuts. Defense. That’s it. Anything else and he is looking like a scrub.

Trae Young first 11 games of the season: .356 FG% and .282 3P% (4.1 TOV)

Moral of the story: Don't judge players based on a small sample size - especially when they're young and adjusting to a new team.

He has all the tools physically, whenever a 'shooter' is shooting that badly(35FG%/25.7 3P%) on a new team, it is a good sign as he has gotten some great looks. Hoping Darko does some DBane's magic here.

We had an entire thread dedicated to Siakams "historically bad shooting" with the same poster who made that thread parading that Scottie is definitely going to be an above average shooter.

Well, not Siakam and Barnes are both 34% (below average), and Barnes had been shooting 26% from 3 for 8 weeks. It is just stupid to ever look at such small samples and make conclusions.
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

Great defense and he doesn't hog the ball or take ill advised shots. If his help defense takes another step he would be a better version of PJ Tucker. That would be a great cheap option on our bench and eventual trade asset.

That was a good Ochai game. Solid defense, 4/7 from the field.

Might as well give him the offseason in our program to see how he looks next season. One thing that stands out that likely can't be fixed though is that his strength and athleticism doesn't translate over offensively as there is a lack of fluidity in how he moves. One of the stats I like to look to gauge how functional the athleticism is on the court is dunks, Ochai only has 36 dunks in his entire career so far, that's very few for a player with that level of athleticism. Modern day Joey Graham comes to mind. People would often crap on OG for falling all over himself anytime he tried to create but the difference between the 2 is still massive at this point and OG gets a lot more dunks as well.

I liked how he looked last night. Just needs to develop his 3 a bit and I think we have a solid player on our hands.

I think he's fine as a POA defender off the bench that can hit the corner 3 and slash to the hoop. He'll be an MLE level player that will play another 10 years because he's cheap and useful off the bench. I think he pairs well with JFL in a bench backcourt.

PG JFL
SG Agbaji
SF Dillon Jones
PF Jontay
C Olynyk - Ivisic

Can dump Nwora and McDaniels. Maybe get two 2nd rounders for Boucher?
