Never a win when you get the worse player. Magic would have a brighter future if they had Scottie instead of either of those players.

Suggs will have a solid career but his upside is quite limited.

I am a guest here and am not here to argue,

I like Wagner and Suggs fit with Paolo and with Coach M. Would not change a thing.

Pretty foolish. Barnes is Suggs but taller and just overall better in every aspect.
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

I’m not looking to argue either. That’s fine you think they are better fits, I would agree with you. I thought you meant that Suggs and Franz were better players than Scottie.

At the end of the day, Weltman would much rather have Scottie on his team than either of those two guys. He could worry about getting the right pieces later. A Banchero/Suggs/Franz core will only go so far.

Guys, he’s being gracious.

Not even asking you to reply in kind, but maybe at the very least just let him be gracious?

He’s the same guy but now he’s just getting far more minutes on a depleted roster.

GTJ could’ve been a free agent last year and everyone thought he was going to stat pad because of it. That turned out to be false. Not to mention no team is going to look at these stretch of games and give him a big contract. These are all meaningless games. Teams know what GTJ brings at this point.

Ochai's averaging 5.7 ppg on 23% shooting from three in a starter's role.

He's the tank commander.

And I think a lot of people are getting caught up in the fact he had a horrible start to the year. He has been shooting like 43% from 3 sine January

The magic are not nearly potent enough offensively to do major damage. They will have to pivot a bit but they are close!

At least they've been competitive in many games. The roster strategy still seems to be lacking in vision.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

Agreed. Still lacking top end talent which is ultimately what you need to win in this league. They have good young players and all of their picks (and maybe some additional ones) so they will have the pieces to upgrade in the future.

They've been in most of these losses but I do think the wheels are going to completely fall off and the 20-30 point losses are coming.

Definitely had more than one great game in his last 10. But anyway, great insight. Thanks for your contribution.

13.7ppg on 43% from 3 and 58TS% in the new year but hey... this team does not need shooting.

My stance on GTJ remains largely the same: bringing him back really depends on what you can get him back for.

$20m/per is still steep I think, but I'd bring him back for $15m/per. I think he's similar or slightly better impact compared to Olynyk, so warrants that kind of money (or slightly better).

As long as he's paid as a 3pt specialist and his role is made clear to him, I'm fine with bringing him back. I don't want to be paying him for any kind of "potential" at this point. Give him the McDermott contract at best. 3 years $41m. The McD contract was bad at the time, but with the cap going up, that might be fair value these days, plus it's easily tradeable (see: Brown, Bruce).

I for one want to see a IQ/GTJ/Dick/Barnes/Olynyk lineup just to see how Barnes looks with 4 great-elite shooters around him

the problem with GTJ is much like boucher, he doesnt do enough things within the system to be worth his next contract here imo. if he just stuck to shooting threes, moving the ball more, and trying on defense(like he has recently) i would be ok bringing him back, but the guy believes he can do more than he actually can and hurts us more than he helps us. the other issue is you cant bring him off the bench because he legit stinks in that role so you have to start him and i dont believe hes a starter on a team that is actually serious about winning.

GTJ doesn’t contribute to winning. If he doesn’t accept our low ball then let him walk. There is no market for him. He’s probably going to bounce around the league next.
