Name the 3 players you want to come away with in 2024 draft

Post#1 » by Hansari » Sun Mar 17, 2024 3:47 am

Always interesting to make predictions as we get closer to the draft, the past two drafts, we’ve had a few posters who have correctly predicted our pick. This year with 3 potential picks, it will be a little more interesting.

Assuming we land picks 5/6, 17 and 31 in a best case scenario, who are the 3 players you choose.

We can revisit after the draft and see if anyone hit on all 3.

Yaxel Lendeborg (F) UAB
Tristan Da Silva (F) Colorado
Donovan Clingan (C) - Uconn

The best player in this draft plays for UAB...

Thank me later.

6 - Salaun
17 - Ivisic
31 - Tristan da Silva

They would be great system players but not number 1 option scorers. I would say that Barnes, Barrett, and IQ are a solid scoring group and now just need surrounding pieces.

I would slide Salaun in as a immediate starter, Ivisic would be a project in the Gleague for a few weeks before rolling out. He looks like a Porzingis lite.

Hall would be immediate impact player that can rebound, play physical, and shoot the mid range and 3 (eventually). He reminds me of David Lee. I would ultimately go with Sliva since he looks more like a guarantee.

Poeltl - Olynyk - Ivisic
Barnes - Silva - Porter
Salaun - Dick
Barrett - Trent
IQ - Barnes

Depends on where the picks land and whether we keep our own first.

If we do somehow end up 6 or it jumps in to the Top 4, I would not put it past this FO to trade our first and Bruce's contract for some more immediate help.

Sarr, Risacher, and Sheppard would be nice.

It's still really early, but right now I like Risacher, McCain, and Edey if he somehow is actually there in the second round. I think Risacher is who I would take #1 this year. I'm not sold yet on any of the other top guys, and Risacher has a very appealing combo of shooting and defense. McCain is a great scorer, who compares well to Quickley, and who would be useful right away as a shooter off the bench for us. Edey would likely have a similar role in the NBA as Valanciunas, and JV is still a good player despite the current pace and space of the league.

Quickley / McCain
Barrett / Dick
Risacher / Agbaji
Barnes / Olynyk
Poeltl / Edey

Looks like a good group to build with to me.

Not bad. I'd switch Topic for Salaun though.

edit: but maybe he's gone by then

I forgot about him. He's a good piece and will definitely be around next year. There's value in players that bring IT defensively and don't demand the ball.

I recommend that people watch the full games instead of highlight packages and scouting reports. You’ll get a much better read on these players and make better opinions on RealGM.

You can't do this exercise right now. The mocks are all over the place. Maybe reference one mock (like the Ringers) and say you can pick from players 5 picks ahead (and obviously any players after).

So from 1 for pick 6.
From 12 for pick 17.
From 26 for pick 31.

But really it difficult to play this game without knowing who is actually available. Like how often was Dick discusses last year for our pick. Not often because he was usually mocked higher.

So for the Indy pick, is Filipowski available? Is Holland? There's bound to be a late lottery guy dropping IMO.

We will lose our lottery pick. Pacers pick will land at 20. Detroit's pick will be 31 or 32.

We will take Zach Edey with #20. We will take Bronny James with #32.

This is definitely the worst case scenario. I think I’d rather forfeit the picks than do this. That way at least they’d save money.

I'm just keeping it real.

Our front office seems to always do what most fans (at least on RGM) are least expecting or wanting (at first).

Most fans wanted Suggs at #4. We took Barnes...and fans booed the pick.

Most fans wanted Bufkin at #13. We took Dick...and fans were confused at the pick.

Most fans didn't like the Thad + pick swap that got us Koloko. Ok...that whole thing looks bad. Still does.

There will be disappointment on draft day...mark my words.

Tre Mann should have been a Top 10 Pick in the 2021 Draft

Nets are really in a tough spot. I would trade all the picks (and maybe a re-signed Trent) for Mikal Bridges.

sure, but they're not dumb haha. neither guy is an NBA level talent. they're just going to start making horrible picks out of nowhere? nah of course not.
