We have 1 guy who is a real center. Olynyk/Porter are both smaller C's who actually should be more of a PF.

If they like Edey, they shouldn't pass because of our 32-year old backup.

The issue is this team lacks "talent" at least to be a competitor, so you probably want to swing for the fences if you think there is a guy with higher upside available. a 3rd center probably wont move the needle, but could end up being a rotation piece in a few years. I also dont think he will be as "dominant" in the NBA as he facing mini guys in college while most NBA teams have a 7 footer or two.

Every year we have the swing for fences debate. This year the draft is weak on potential tier one talent. This is not the time or place to get our star by roll of the dice. I totally support going Castle at 5 or 6 if so lucky and Edey or Dillon Jones at Pacer's pick. Dump the 31st with contracts we should shed like Boucher. The real offseason questions are: Boucher, Brown and Trent jr. I think something like Boucher, McDaniels 31st for stop gaps Trey Lyles and Sasha Vezenkov replace some size lost to OG, Paskal and Precious departures. I sign Brown to one year 23 mil and sign-trade Gary for TPE and pick.

1-16:
1. Scottie. 2. IQ 3. Barrett 4. Poetl 5. Brown 6. Gradey Dick. 7. Kelly 8. Ochai Agbaji 9. Nwora 10. Temple 11. JFL 12. Jontay Porter 13. Stephon Castle 14. Zac Edey (or Dillon Jones) 15. Trey Lyles 16. Sasha Vezenkov

Unless he shows any semblance of a jump shot, I don't see why we would take him at all.

I haven’t watched him play at all this season but I was never high on him, even when he was in high school. He’s a bench player in the NBA, assuming he sticks. When you’re that height you either have to be able to shoot or be so lethal 15 feet in that it justifies the weaknesses in a very fast and switchable NBA that proves challenging for big plodding guys.

We need talent everywhere. It would not be bad @32 to have at least a huge backup center, who can score and get rebounds.

The more i watch Edey I feel picking him in the teens is too early, but I feel like someone will definitely pick him up before #32

If we have a mid 20s pick that would be perfect

I’d say Walker Kessler is his ceiling. And that’s an extreme best case scenario imo.

Probably taller and longer Valanciounas. High PER and TS, good rebounder, decent free throw and good post up.
Though, I havent watch him extensively.

Zach Edey - Draft Combine Measurements
▪️ Height (no shoes): 7' 3.25"
▪️ Wingspan: 7' 10.50"

Valanciounas
▪️ Height (no shoes): 6'11"
▪️ Wingspan: 7'5"

You have to appreciate the confidence while claiming ignorance. fwiw, he averages 11.2 FTA/game this year in college. He is lethal 15 ft in, to the extent he gets fouled more than Shaq and David Robinson ever did.

Your high end comparison is Walker Kessler, who averaged 2.6 FTA at Auburn when teams were incentivized to put him on the line.

Let’s see how it goes in the NBA.

You really need to stop following me around to “rebuke” my takes. It’s weird behaviour.

Exactly... when a team falls apart because of 1 injury to a good role player like Poeltl, your overall roster is clearly flawed. Look at all our past successful years, one guy gets hurt then it should be next man up with little drop-off.

Heck, look at how the Knicks are operating. Never thought I'd be using them as an example of how to build a roster but they've finally done it.

A 7'3" Val would be actually very very good.

I think a big part of determining if Edey is a good NBA player is if he can anchor a defense and add value there in a similar manner as Gobert does. Gobert with some offensive touch would be scary good

Defensively at this point he will likely be unplayable at the NBA level.
But I still support drafting him. Would actually go to 905 games to watch him play

Is his lack of mobility being overblown? I've only watched a handful of his games, but the way people talk, you'd think he has lead feet. Maybe he's not nimble, but he doesn't look like he's wading through molasses.

What is clear is that you'll never get a real sample until he plays at the next level.

I've said before, in a normal draft, he feels like a guy I'd be comfortable with at 30. In this draft I think you could make a case for taking him somewhere between 20-25.

I've been watching him 2 years now. I think he'd be fine offensively in the NBA IF the combine shooting stories are true. I worry about him on the defensive side especially with the potential for him to get run off the floor if opponents run a 5 out offence. I will say, his supporting cast at Purdue has been good (by college standards) and I'd be curious to see how he plays with NBA caliber players beside him (for good and bad).

He'll be taken some time in the first round. Someone will roll the dice.
As for second round or undrafted Cs to take a flyer on, N'Faly Dante is a guy I would love the Raps to consider. Either a two way or stash at the G League to develop.
I've got a belt on that's holding up my pants and my pants have belt loops that hold up my belt. I don't know what's really happening down there. Who is the real hero? - Mitch Hedberg
