Just hook Jontay up to a polygraph and see if he passes.

Way off topic, but some of us were super pumped by Charlie V. I remember arguing on message boards at the time that he was going to have a better career than Bosh and be our true franchise player.
(a) There is no "board". There's a collection of individuals.
(b) Most of us are Raptors fans, and want to support our players, including draft picks. It's more exciting that way.
(c) Nobody initially thought Scottie or Poeltl or Pascal were going to be "the next big thing". The only really exciting pick at the time was OG, who would have been a lottery pick but for his ACL injury in college.
(d) NOBODY thought JV was going to be the next Hakeem.
(e) It was the Young Guns, not the "young'uns". And DeMar and Amir turned out to be damn good players (before Amir played through injury in Game 7 against the Nets to help us stay in the game - he was never the same after that).
In short, everything about your haterade post is incorrect.
To address kwajo's point, again, we as fans support our players and draft picks. That's what it means to be a fan - as opposed to a hater like bape_lovers. I personally liked Charlie. But CV was not considered a good pick by the NBA journalist community, because of concerns about his motor and willingness or ability to play defence. Concerns which turned out to be legit. He had a good year, but we still traded him - for an injury-prone small - after his first year.
So to tank for a year to end up with guys like him and Graham does not speak well to idea of putting draft picks uber alles, and ignore the importance of developing young talent. Which this current team has in abundance, although we just lost one prospect for good.

It's hard to imagine he's the only guy in sports who has thought of this. I mean, you sit there and watch a game on TV and it's wall-to-wall sports betting ads. For my taste, I'd like to see those ads banned, like cigarette ads. It's poisoning a lot of young minds.

It's interesting to think who was doing the betting on that info. Is it possible that it was team staff?

No, probably not.
What probably happened was his premium discord group goaded him into taking a night off, on those two nights. The money was an inconsequential amount. But it was enough to raise eyebrows because Jontay is a nobody, on a 2 way contract.

If you're looking for people who don't make huge money and have access. This would be a bad fallout situation for the team.

Definitely possible but let’s hope that is not the case. If this goes beyond one individual as far as the team goes, it will potentially get very messy.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?
Please advise….

I agree.
Kid watches a commercial with Wayne Gretzky and Connor McDavid and all the sudden he becomes more curious about sports betting or is convinced that gambling is great and not potentially harmful at all.

When is Silver going to investigate the FT discrepency between the Lakers and every other team? I mean, integrity seems important to them after all.
Yah its pretty hypocritical of them to get all bent out of shape out of a 2 way player (they simply could have had him visit HQ and be told, "Hey, we know what you are doing and it stops now or you are done for good." But, see the overloards of the league, the gambling app companies, wouldn't have gotten their money back.
The Lakers and LeBron are a cesspool of cheating and nothing gets said except how wonderful it is that LeBron has such a long 10 points scoring streak.

It's human nature to want to think one can beat the system that chews us up. Everyone dreams of flipping the table on the asset managers that have sunk their teeth in every human frailty in order to exploit us from cradle to grave with their pea sized intellect and highly attuned criminal minds. I won't watch a podcast that is running ads or reading scripts for sports betters. I noticed Pensare basketball doesn't out of principle. Good on him.
The way to beat it is to not be a part of it. Get the message out. Preach.

Exactly… most of his posts are hating on Masai, and somehow we’re just supposed to know that this one is a joke lol
See this is the problem for folks like you, you can't separate criticism for the moves, from the person.
I have no hate or love for Masai, I don't know him on any level outside of him in media and being the Raps president. I have criticism for his work, not him as a person. I'm not on these boards like some are talking about his african infatuation or anything personal. I discuss his moves both good and bad.
Once your little gaggle of Masai defenders grasp that, it might be a little easier to have discussions. You see every criticism like it's a personal attack on him, therefore you assume people have it out for him on a personal level. Masai has made some great moves, and some terrible moves, neither of which have any bearing on my opinion on him as a person.
Hate/Love or anything on that spectrum is reserved for people I actually know, maybe you guys are different, who knows. I don't hate the man, I hate a lot of his recent moves. I loved some of his older moves, and like one of his most recent ones.
Learn to separate the art, from the artist, it'll make this place much less combative when trying to discuss things as individual moves. Or, keep circle jerking with the same 4 posters about how "Scase bad, he hate daddy Masai", your choice
bro its really not that serious. If you were truly joking about that comment, I misunderstood and take accountability for that, but I'm sure you can understand why some of us didn't know you were joking based on some of your past comments about Masai. You have to admit, it's pretty ironic that you of all people made that comment on a thread which has nothing to do with Masai.
I mean yeah, that was kinda the point of the joke lol. There's always talk about character being a thing Masai looks for, and then we get this bonehead that is betting on himself, obviously that isn't Masai's fault, he isn't psychic. Hence the reason I made the joke.
It's cool if you didn't pick up on it, no harm, no foul. The irritation came from the peanut gallery doubling down on it after clearly stating it was a joke. And again, my comments aren't directed at Masai, but rather his performance/moves.
Props TZ!

Whats the worst part is this guy couldve made lifetime money, kind of like Bouchers contract. He was looking promising. He sacrificed it all due to gambling.
But that should tell you something about gambling itself. It just keeps the middle class and the poor really poor. I used to work with a guy that blew 200k of his live savings in his late 50s due to gambling and had to work to not further deplete what he had left.
Now when you are commuting all you see are gambling ads on bus boards. It also becomes popular when your economy is garbage and productivity is sinking.

I have said for a long time I want betting ads gone. Cigarattes, alcohol, betting (casinos) all are going to make their money regardless of if there are ads.
I enjoy most of those things myself, but why can betting and alcohol advertise but cigarettes and pot cant?

Re: Porter under investigation for prop betting involving himself
Gambling losses are the story of the Toronto Raptors lately:
We went from Fred VanVleet metaphorically "betting on himself" and getting paid career type money by the Rockets this past offseason, to gaining Jontay Porter who literally went and "bet on himself" and likely cost him his NBA career.
We thought we could get max value from Siakam and OG and ended up with zero prospects and a bunch of mediocre players.
Darko was probably the safest bet as a new coach, and even he got sued by the Knicks for stealing information.
This is a dark era and really the only way out of it is firing Masai and Bobby and starting over. There is no winning culture here.
