Any Shooting Guards available?

Post#1 » by rapluva » Sun Apr 21, 2024 4:22 am

https://hoopshype.com/lists/2024-nba-free-agent-rankings-top-shooting-guards-available/

From the list above, I say Raps should make a run at Malik Beasley..looking for a bump in salary but may be cheaper than keeping GT Jr.

Malik Monk is nice but I don't see him wanting to come play in Canada.

There might be some big names available but realistically, they are not options for the Raptors.

Ofcourse, Garry is ok, but honestly I feel he is a gunner that should come off the bench with Gradey. We need a backup point and a Center as well.. that's where they should experiment with their 2 way players.

Gary Trent Jr is the type of guy we'd have a chance at if we he didn't already play for us. I think you go for Quickly off that list.

We should go for Maxey and IQ. That way we can have poor man's Maxey and the real thing.

My vote is for Malik Monk. I think heā€™s a game changer and the Kings sorely missed him at the end of the year.

Likeliest scenario is we trade for Andrew Wiggins lol.

I don't see him wanting to come play in Canada.

This is usually nonsense. Heā€™ll go to the highest bidder after being underpaid his whole career.

From that list we will probably get Quickley, GTJ and Bruce Brown.

Weā€™re set at the 1 and 2 spots with quickley and Barrett. At the back up 2 also if Trent ends up staying. Assuming Barnes is slotted at the 4 spot, we need a 3 in the worst way.
Not sure who is available who would want to come here.

Patrick Williams would be an interesting target at the 3/4. Not sure what the Bulls would be willing to match and what salary he would command.

Despite his injury history I kinda like what he brings and he's already friendly with Scottie. It would be a good contrast to Gradey's game.

Shooting Guards?

We have RJ, Dick and Ochai at the 2. Not to mention GTJ.
IQ is a combo-esque guard, and Bruce Brown is something.

We need a 3/4, a PG and a C.

Nah. Iā€™m done with injury prone players.

I'm gonna beat this l drum to death until a better name pops up but I'm taking Wiggins simply because Gstate would have to attach assets with him.

We need to be like OKC who was getting players like CP, Horford, etc. with assets to rebuild their value and then flipping them off elsewhere when the time was right.

I'd rather have a genuine 3+D wing we can develop.

We should target Kyshawn George in this draft. He's a 6'8 SG that hit a late growth spurt and he use to be a PG before that. His lower range is around 16. He brings jumbo sized movement shooting and as his body naturally develops and fills out he will likely become a SF.

We need the same thing every other team needs... A Superstar calibre player at the 3 spot.

Unless we get really lucky and draft one, that ain't happening anytime soon.

Givony's top 11 in the 2025 draft has 9 guys whose primary position might be shooting guard. We may not have a pick, though. But in theory that's the time to get one.

Overpaying for mid-tier players is where we shine.

If FA is the route to fill the SG gap, I'd be happy with any of the following:

Aaron Wiggins
De'Anthony Melton
Gary Harris
Josh Richardson
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
Malik Beasley
Alec Burks

Not really a shooting guard specifically but Naji Marshall is a UFA and the pelicans have no room for him. How much will he cost and would you be interested?
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please adviseā€¦.
