Likely time of day if/when trade goes down...

Post#1 » by YogiStewart » Fri Jan 2, 2009 4:39 pm

Going by memory, Bryan Colangelo tends to finalize/consumate his moves later in the day.

Both Juan Dixon trades took place around 4 PM.
Luke Jackson was cut close to 4 PM.

I do not recall when the JO took place, but it was during the off-season, so the timing trend may not apply.

Just some food for thought for those looking for a trade...probably best to look closer to the end of your work day.

Don't get your hopes up.

A trade could happen at anytime or not at all.

IIRC, the Charlie V-T.J. Ford trade went down late -- something like 10-11 p.m. on a Friday night.

Most trades break late because they have to be finalized with the league office. That doesn't mean that a tentative agreement isn't reached over breakfast.

What is also clear is that since BC's been our GM, he has made only minor moves while the season is in progress. His most aggressive moves have been made between the end of the season and the second or third day of free agency. Think. The Araujo trade (June), the Rasho trade (June), the JO trade (draft night), the Delfino trade (week before the draft), the Kapono signing (first day of free agency), re-signing Calderon (first day of free agency), the CB-Ford trade (shortly after the draft, prior to the start of free agency).

+1.

And league needs to approve. But anytime a trade can happen really.

But I'm looking forward to 4PM today though. :P

don't get your hopes too high folks. It could very well be another lateral move by BC trading one scrub for another.

As soon as possible. Especially before the next game. Meaning, if you're ready to do the deal, you don't let, say, Andrea go out and play tonight and get injured if he's the guy about to be traded.

Does anyone here know something I do not?

What trade? I have heard of no trade?

Is this wishful thinking?

If so, enjoy and dream away.

Trade at 17:23 ET on January 2, 2009.

According to another thread, only O'neal and Kapono missed the shootaround so there might not be anything exciting happening today.

Monday, it seems, will start up Tradewatch again. :(

Does anyone really know when the actual agreements are finalized?

The ANNOUNCEMENTS tend to come later in the day. That's because they are usually run through the NBA Office for final approval before the press release.

There is no real evidence that your GM waits until the afternoon before making decisions - that's just when the announcements come
