Step aside Donyell and John, you've been replaced

Post#1 » by evilRyu » Wed Jan 28, 2009 12:52 am

The Toronto Raptors all-time Top-10 blocks leaders has been shaken up this past week. Very tight battle between 9th place and 12th place.

Here is the list (I bolded the active players on the current roster):

1. Chris Bosh...........496
2. Vince Carter.........415
3. Antonio Davis.......405
4. Marcus Camby..... .360
5. Tracy McGrady......278
6. Keon Clark...........232
7. Oliver Miller.........228
8. Doug Christie..... ..187
9. Donyell Marshall.....150
10. Jamario Moon.......145
11. John Wallace........144
12. Andrea Bargnani....143

If Chris Bosh leaves for Free Agency, and Bargnani maintains his rate of blocks of, say, 1.2 blocks per game, it will take him around 7 more seasons to become the Raptors all-time blocks leader. Who would've thought.

oh and Keon Clark climbed up that list really quick! Wasn't he here for like a season or so?

VC was the all time block leader? and it cant take that long for Bargs seeing as Bosh is a poor shot blocker. He should reach the 500 mark much sooner than Bosh.

raptors have never really had good shot blocker for a long period of time.....im hoping bargs improves further and becomes a 2 bpg type of player on defence

yeah, it really shows the lack of a true shotblocker the team never had.

-This just reminds how awesome Keon Clark was as a shotblocker and what he could've been as a player
-Clark was a blocking machine especially for the half season in 2000-2001 he was here averaging 4.1 per 36 minutes
-232 blocks in 127 games is pretty good especially when you put into fact he averaged maybe 24 minutes a game
-If the raps where to have kept him another season he probably would've been ahead of vince.
-It makes me wonder how good he would've been without his demons. a 15/9/2.5 blocks PF/C would've been great for any team.

I knew that other poster who said he was here for atleast 3 seasons took that out of his a@#; but 127 games, that's really good for the amount of minutes he was playing. I remember being at that game against the Hawks I think it was, when he blocked 12 shots, simply amazing.

Umm, what?

Bosh's career shot-blocking average is almost double Bargs'...

Now I'm not saying he's Keon Clark, but he's not a bad shot blocker and Bargs is certainly not comparable to him -yet-.

I was actually surprised to see this stat as Bosh is far from a great shotblocker (although I seem to recall that he averaged like four or something in college), but I suppose it makes sense as he's averaged a little better than one per game.

Although Bargnani is winning the race this season, 1.2-.9.

Bosh is a better shot blocker than Bargnani ? Certainly not this season. Bargnani only started getting more aggresive and playing better defence this year. Bosh has been in the league for 6 years and his shot blocking is nothing spectacular. Bargnani on the other hand, has recorded a few 4 blocks games this year. I would have to agree youngLion, Bargnani will get to 500 before Bosh would.

Rather the lack thereof. McGrady, Christie and Carter all in the top ten... I wonder how many other teams lists resemble the Raptors'.

I wasn't much of a fan back when Oliver Miller played for the Raps... can anyone chime in as to how much of a presence he was in the paint???

Bargnani's B/48Min 1.3
Bosh's B/48Min 1.5
If you look at their career MPG Bosh plays more than 10 minutes a game extra so it makes more sense to look at their per 48 minute blocks which are almost identical. Bargnani has become way better at getting blocks from man on man defense and help defense. Bosh averaged his highest BPG in his first two seasons when he played with AD and in Kevin Oneal's sweet defensive system. Overall Bargs is a better shot blocker I say and will surpass Bosh in all time block leaders.

Keon Clark was sick. Too bad he could not stay sober.
