Re: OT: If you were an NBA player...
This question is silly such a no brainer.. too much money difference.. let's try with 15-18 mil $ and first option on a bad team, or 10-12 mil $ but the second option on a great team?? Everybody would say : go the good team, but in reality Nba players tend to prefer all the lights with losses that get a step back for some winning.. This is Bosh situation. He would be amazing second option.. but would he accept it?? I hope he does.. leaving the raps.. If he stays it means he wants to be the main guy

for the first 10-12 years of my career i'll be the max-money guy. then when im 32 or so, i'll take a paycut to $10 mil till im 40. if i still dont have a ring i'll be the $4 mil role player until i get a ring or turn 50.

Do you really need 14 mill a year to live a good life though?
If I was given 4 a year, I'd be bouncing off the walls.
I just think quality of life is better then money personally.
10 million dollars provide better quality of life than a ring.

Even if it was 14million vs 8million (double your 4million) ... i'd expect 80% take the money and run in there early years, where the future is unknown...

Re: OT: If you were an NBA player...
Personally, I take the money. Winning is obviously more fun than losing and having a championship is nice but, here's my take on it. In the end you only play basketball till your mid 30s (35 let's say). After that you have 30 years of your life left. The championship would be nice but, you're in a much better position for the rest of your life if you take the money. You could pursure other interests like Nash and B. Davis with their production companies, etc. Sure there's more to life than money but, I say you can do more with the rest of your life with money than you can with a championship.
How many people actually win championships? Few. How many of those championships in the NBA have certain shady things attacked to them? Lots. What about the Sacamento-Lakers WCF? Wade getting all the call against Dallas? Didn't Laker fans storm the court with 3 seconds left and Isiah about to shoot a 3 for the game? Personally, I know that I'd probably go back and watch footage and I think that stuff would bother me. I'd rather have the more money than a ring and championship I didn't deserrve.

I'll take warm weather and cold hard cash every time.
I can then use the money to "win" in other, much more significant, areas of life. Maybe become a Bruce Wayne-Batman type of guy.

Well, if this would be my only shot at a guaranteed championship being a bench warmer, I'll take the 4 mill and the ring.
Honestly, people who choose the money over the chip are greedy bastards who are damn lucky to be getting paid so much to play a fricken game and obviously has there goals set on the cash rather then being the ultimate competitor.

I'd take the $4M per. That's plenty of money, and good times winning championships and having champagne showers instead of getting your arse kicked night in and night out on a shat team.

I agree with the thought of taking big money early on, and then taking a big pay cut down the road to be apart of a championship ring.

I would rather be a Bargnani. Getting paid millions for sucking, a GM who keeps you covered in a golden blanket and does everything to make you confortable from firing coaches to feeding you undeserved PT, a fanbase that is largely in love with your elusive potential, a franchise player who is too lazy to rip you apart for your suckiness, an endless supply of beautiful women giving you the opportunity to score efficiently in bed since you can't do that on the floor, a media-base that has blindly bought into your supposed skillset, a fat friend from back home who does a hell of a job of selling your potential to every walking stranger on the street and finally, a situation where you get away with the "young and learning" excuse even though you're the same age as a certain Lebron James and Chris Paul...

It wouldn't hurt to be earning 14mil a year on a championship team.

Just because you get paid or overpaid to play the game doesn't mean you don't enjoy it. That's a personal choice.

And...
I'll take the $14 million and be a star on the poor team
Then later in my career I'll fly to a team like the Celtics or Spurs, win a few titles.
And then be recognized as a legit HOF'er.
