YOUR day?! All I can say is I would hate to be Red's task chair when he reads this.
So I'll assume Corbin will immediately be named interim coach, and soon will hold the permanent head coaching position.

Re: Sloan, Johnson to resign
The only reason Phil hasn't retired was because he was supporting Jerry. Phil is actually older than Jerry is.

Sources say Coach Sloan will resign
February 10th, 2011 @ 11:38am
By ksl.com
SALT LAKE CITY - KSL Sports has learned through sources that a press conference will be held later today at which time Jazz Coach Jerry Sloan and assistant Phil Johnson will resign their positions effective immediately.
Sloan was an assistant to Jazz Coach Frank Layden and then took over the team when Layden retired in 1988. Sloan took the Jazz to the playoffs in 16 consecutive seasons and coached the Jazz in the NBA Finals in 1997 and 1998. They lost both series to Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls.
There's still no word as to why the coach's have decided to resign, but those questions should be answered at the press conference expected later today.
Stay tuned to ksl.com, KSL NewsRadio 102.7FM/1160AM and KSL TV for the latest updates.

Sloan> Who?
SO MUCH of Sloan's career is based on longevity. Not any tangible results. This has been discussed ad nauseum around here.

Re: Sloan, Johnson to resign
sounds like from the reports a trade was also being talked about...maybe Sloan and KOC had some words or opinions and phil backing up sloan left with him *shrugs*.
Either way wow.. he just BARELY signed an extension so the timing on this is very odd.

Re: Sloan, Johnson to resign
I wonder what this means for AK's future. He wanted to stay in Utah and play at a hometown discount to play for Sloan...

This makes me sick. Sloan is the third best coach in the league and Phil Jackson or Popovich is not available

I am dancing a jig tonight. This... my God... Its finally here. Its finally over. 23 YEARS of failed/lowered expectations. We are finally going to get a taste of something different. This... I can't even make sense. Nothing I say is intellegent right now.

Re: Sloan, Johnson to resign
Sad to see it happen like this, but I think a new way just may work in the long run. Here's to 25 years of Corbin.
