Just let CJ go..

Post#1 » by Reckless » Sun Jun 26, 2011 9:31 am

Cj's option comes up on the 30th and i really hope the jazz do not pick it up. it is time for him to go, where exactly? maybe join his buddy deron williams in new jersey i really don't care. since joining the jazz cj's basketball skill and IQ level has moved at a snail's pace, how much has he improved? is he a shooter? no can't be(low shooting %'s). is he a slasher? no can't be(rarely get's to the ft line). is he a defender? no can't be(defensive rating is poor). what the hell is he!?!?? i dont' even know how to classify a guy like cj. at this point in his career that's not a good thing, time to say bye to miles.

The kid can shoot lights out if he puts his mind into it, and plays smart.

It's just really unfortunate that he never puts his mind into it, and doesn't ever play smart. He plays worse far more often than he plays well. He never seems to understand that if you aren't shooting hot, you start passing the ball instead of chucking shots. There isn't a more frustrating player on the court.

The worst thing about CJ is when he's going on one of his week long hot streaks, you think "Maybe this is it. Maybe he finally found his consistency." But no, like clockwork, he'll go on cold streaks that last way longer than the hot streaks.

Kid basically raises my hopes and then crushes them over and over.

As disappointing as he is, he's probably worth the 3 million or so the option costs. However I wouldn't shed a tear if we didn't. He also has at least some trade value, try and get a first round or something out of him first...

Let him go in favor of......some CBA no-name who doesn't do any better? Come on, its not like his contract is horrible or something.

As frustrated as I am with CJ at times, his contract is just too cheap not to pick up...... Especially since we need his range if we're going to have a Jefferon/Favors frontcourt.......

With how cheap his contract his, his roster spot might be worth more than his contract. If the Jazz's roster is getting too full, then ya, let him go. But the Jazz have a few players leaving already, and will have to bring new people in. New guys that come that cheaply generally require some sort of learning curve, and that is just to meet up to their contract level.

I think the Jazz should keep CJ simply because how familiar he is with the offense. Expectations for him aren't very high anymore anyway.

His place is in NY, GSW or PHX.

Where likes to shoot a lot of threes.

So how much is too much to pay a player to help you lose? 3 Million dollars seems high to me. I'd be happy to come in and jack up fade-a-way 3's with 20 seconds on the shot clock for twenty bucks and a cheeseburger.

I think CJ plays better as a pass first player imo, hopefully he has proven to himself he can score, I think if he set his mind to it he could be a good ball handler and at his size, he could develop pt guard skills since that is what he played in hs it is probably the most natural for him, maybe he can't handle the ball, i don't know.

if you dont think CJ is worth 3.7 million in todays league your are a moron. Besides if we ditch him the only consistent 3 point shooter we have is memo. CJ needs to stay and is still young. 3.7 for what he brings is still very much worth it.

Cj is an asset, it would be best to flip him for a first round pick exactly like we did with Ronnie Brewer. KOC will exercise the option because to not to would be foolish. Cj won us 3 to 4 games last year, and to only have to pay $2M of his contract before we flip him for a first rounder is just good business.

Consider us out of the playoff hunt and Houston in it, would they give us one of there 2 picks next year to help make the playoffs? Yes. Say its a NY pick at around 20. Would that pick, our own low lottery pick, plus a hopefully lower GSW pick be enough to move into the top 5?

Dont waste an asset!

depends on if there is a replacement that will improve the roster.
I wouldn't think that would be hard to find.

But if you look at CJ (not only as a 3 point shooter)

He can drive, he can finish with the dunk. He can hit runners. Get to the rim.

And hm. Better to trade Bell for some picks or cash.

I'm actually surprised the Jazz haven't picked up the option yet. Even with C.J.'s inconsistency, he is a bargain at $3.7M.

I criticize him just like everyone else, but at that price, I just don't see how they don't pick it up. I'm sure they will by Thursday.

I think you pick up his option since it's a bargain and if he plays well then that's great, if you're still sick of him by the trade deadline you package him in a Millsap trade.

The fact that you used the word "consistent" when describing CJ Miles tells us all we need to know.

3-Point Shooting:

Gordon Hayward: 47%
Andrei Kirilenko: 37%
Devin Harris: 36%
Raja Bell: 35%
Earl Watson: 34%
CJ Miles: 32%

Try again...

Nice. :)

The funny thing is, I'll bet in practice CJ shoots really well, probably better than most of those guys. But in games he takes so many poor shots that his percentage just tanks.

He's just a poor decision maker.

I don't know, maybe it was just me, but I generally I didn't really think he was that bad this year as a lot of people are making him out to be, his percentages from three are a lot lower than those other goes too, because they didn't take near as many at all.

That's priceless logic right there.
